J. Michael's Philly Deli — Restaurant in North Carolina

Beyond disappointing. I called a little after 7 to place a pick up order. After 5 mins on hold we drove to the MJ location while still remaining on the phone. As we pulled into the parking lot a girl answered to take our order. We were on hold almost 12 mins. For 3 small Philly cheese steak sandwiches & pickles she said it would take 20-25 min which i thought was a bit excessive since there were only about 6 other cars in the parking lot but we were already there and already had time invested in this meal. And you know how, when you go to a popular restaurant and they tell you the wait time, it's usually much shorter than what they said. I thought that this would be the case as well. So we sat in the parking lot. One car went through drive thru, 2 parties left the restaurant. One, that had been waiting at a table out front, picked up her order. And 1 other picked up his. Meanwhile, 20 minutes have passed and I send the other person in thinking the order has to be ready and maybe had already been sitting waiting for pickup. Nope. My companion sat in the restaurant another 15 min while observing the girls up front just fooling around. One empolyee came from the kitchen, obviously food prep because she had on gloves, she was taking money & answering the phone. Basically doing the job of the useless girls behind the counter. Then she had to go back to the kitchen. Don't know if she replaced the gloves before to food prep. Finally, when the $30 order was ready 35 mins later, my companion paid, obviously leaving no tip while the girl glared and didn't say a word. Not even a sorry for the long wait. When we got home, we discovered the order was incorrect, there were onions on the one ordered without onions. The other 2 were correct but the roll was so soggy you couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. And only 2 pickles spears for 3 cheese steaks. We won't be going back. There are other restaurants in town that have better quality and prices and don't take as long to prepare with better costumer service that can actually get the...

I wasn’t sure about making this review, but it’s been weeks , probably 2 months or so and that’s still on my mind , so you can probably tell it affected me, being a person that takes everything to heart. I saw a coworker eating a nice sandwich so I asked where he got it from, he told me the place, next day I went to get one for myself. That was the only time I have bought a meal there , food was great , no complaints there. It was a takeout and I was told I can sit while waiting, that’s what I did. Couple of minutes later , it goes this way, the girl in the kitchen looks at me , starts smiling/laughing, at the same time talking something, sees that I’m looking back at her , and she takes a step back behind a corner where I could see half of her. Whatever she was saying, made the other guy that was working on the sandwich look at me , laugh, and keep talking to her , and then the 3rd person comes in where the other 2 , tell him something, the other dude looks at me and laughs , and this kept going for a couple of minutes. I was extremely confused, my face started to turn red cuz I didn’t know what was happening and why they look at me and laugh, it was my sandwich they were working on and I had all kind of thoughts go through my head …… I couldn’t wait to get my food and get out of there. That thing is still on my mind. I regret not going to them and ask if they got something to say to me, but I’m an extremely shy person, and my only thought was how do I get out of here faster. Most basic Philly I have ever had with some of the worst service. Stopped in this location at 1:30PM on a Sunday afternoon. It took an hour, after we ordered, to get our sandwiches and had empty drinks for over half of that time. The wait staff was heard complaining about tips as they walked by us several times with all our drinks empty saying "it's not our fault", referring to slow service. I know they can't control the kitchen but our empty drinks WERE your fault. Our fries were never brought out by the time we finished our sandwiches and we had them take them off the bill. One in my party ordered a bologna sandwich that was given to us as we checked out. The Philly itself was very basic with ladle drizzled cheese on it. Very little extras on it that I paid for. I added banana peppers ($0.70) and green peppers ($ 0.50) and received maybe 3 cut pieces of each. Other items were missing from other sandwiches. Prices are way high for what you get anyways. I know there is this mentality with the staff in a tourist area that we will never see them again, but those customers that do frequent or return to the area, you're right, you won't.
