Summary: Long wait time, poor service, seemingly inconvenienced wait staff, okay food (read on for more)
Been here twice, once with a large family group and once just my wife and I. When my family and I arrived we were told to pick a seat. The only seating large enough for our group of 8 was in the side room with additional seating and larger tables. No one came to take our order for food or drinks for about fifteen minutes so we finally went back around into the main area to ask for a server. I figured we may have just been lost in the shuffle and the rest of our experience was average.
On my second trip here with my wife, we arrived at the restaurant around noon on a weekend. There were only three or four booths filled. We were again told to take a seat wherever we preferred. We took a seat in the main dining room. As a waiter/host (not sure) passed our table he glanced back and turned around seemingly unwillingly and asked for our drink order and whether we wanted breakfast or lunch menus. We received our drinks in about five minutes and were told a waitress would be by in a few. After about fifteen minutes of waiting without anyone else coming to our table we decided to just leave cash on the table for our drinks and exit the restaurant. Service was incredibly poor. Waitress followed up with a table next to ours but never stopped by our table. I will absolutely not come here again now that I know this isn't a fluke problem but instead a repeated issue and culture at...
Read moreI’m a local and have not eaten here in a long time, now I remember why. Go to the Hampstead location if you want really good, fresh tasting food. Walking in, the hostess was not friendly or welcoming , she must be having a bad day. Hushpuppies were greasy and looking burnt, but it was due to oil that needed to be changed . I came for the pork chops because Hampstead location has wonderful chops. Unfortunately the chops were also fried in oil that should have been changed. I told the waitress and she said maybe they were overcooked. Corn tasted like it was from yesterday. As I was walking out to pay I saw crab cakes and fried potatoes on guests’ plate that looked as bad as my chops. Then the hostess asked, how was my lunch? I explained the condition of my pork chops and that I had told the waitress. She listened, but she really didn’t do anything to offset my lunch that should have been great. Why ask if no one is interested in helping a guest have an enjoyable experience. We were so hungry. Hampstead location has really good food and higher standards—they would never send out food tasting/looking like what I experienced today, and I have eaten at Hampstead many many times. I told the hostess that I was very surprised that 1) the kitchen would put food out looking like that and 2) make your servers...
Read moreMy father and I have been heading over to The Sawmill for years...Always a favorite. Now, I've been on the fence about writing this, but I feel I have to. The food, in my opinion is always very good. And once again it didn't let us down. However, the service really hurt today. We sat down and the busboy brought us our drinks. We didn't see another person at the table for 6 minute...Yes, I timed it. The young woman came, took our order and we never saw her again. The food came out in normal time and was brought by some other server, which isn't a big deal, but our drinks were getting low. We never saw another person. We waited for a check and that never came either. We went to the register, told the woman there what we had, she rang us up. We told her about the service and her response was more, "that's to be expected"...She said she was sorry that happened, but it came off as if a manager or owner told her if someone says something just say I'm sorry and take their money. I started thinking, having been surrounded by Fox News and my father looking like a Mexican (He's Puerto Rican), they didn't like our politics...Although we had been coming here for years. It's a bit heartbreaking and I hope it was just an isolated incident...But chances...
