We got there right as they opened to meet some friends. We're the out of towners and our local friends picked the spot and we're so grateful! The atmosphere is comfortable, loved the paddle fans! Our server was attentive and cordial. The food was the star of the day. Three of the four of us got the soup and salad. Hoppin John soup with rice and kielbasa sausage, full of flavor! The salad is massive, not a teeny side salad at all! I was the odd one out. I got the Mahi sandwich. It was out of this world good! Fish perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sauce on it makes the sandwich. The RJ fries are a bit odd, and the only miss in our meal. They cut coins, not julienne or home style fries. There's no seasoning but a little salt. Much thicker than hot chips they held on to the grease. I'll order a different side next time. And I anticipate a next time. On the whole, well done!

Very interesting place with a huge local following and local vibe. Food was delish and the service was on point. This was a random pic and I went solely to get some ribs as the pictures and reviews were really great. The ribs, while on the smaller side, did not disappoint, very nicely done. Flavor was a sweet rub that really was great. Just going on record, I have never seen a loaded baked potato come out with an extra bowl of load!!!! I love it, extra sour cream and cheese, I would go back for that in a heartbeat. Pure Awesomeness. My wife had the shrimp and grits and said they were on point, lots of flavor and the shrimp cooked great. The appetizer was fried mushrooms, which were great and seemed to be fresh. Great local beer selection and they actually had beer specials on a Saturday night, unheard of in this day and age.

This restaurant has been a staple in Wilmington for a while. A large selection menu had salads, sandwiches, burgers and plenty of entrees. The hickory smoked seared tuna was my choice. Asked for medium rare but came medium to well depending on the end of the piece you cut into. It had good flavor and sauce was delicious but certainly overcooked. The sweet potato fries were luke warm and not crispy. The marinated coleslaw was crisp and delicious. My friend ordered the baby back ribs. They were tender but looked like they barely touched a grill. This is not certainly a restaurant i will return to soon as there are other amazing restaurants in the area.

May 2017- I'll tell you what. Those little croissants with the honey glaze are some foodie crack. This restaurant is one of my girlfriends family favorites and we went to join them this Saturday for a meal. There is ample parking and the place itself looks nice. The service was pretty good as well. The more a waiter comes by and refills my water the better I tend to like the service and our server was on top of things. I tasted the potato skins and they were okay, I wasn't amazed with that. For dinner I had the salmon salad and that was really really tasty. I am a big fan of big ole bowl of vegetables and some protein to make me feel like I am not killing my body with junk. It was tasty and I probably didn't get heart disease from it. #winning However, sometimes you just need a meal that defies your conscious. They have some good seafood dishes including crab cakes and burgers. Hopefully, I get to try those in the future. All in all a pretty good trip.

Oh P.S.- they give you mints on your way out and those are pretty good so pop one or 5 in to your mouth and enjoy

July 2019- I came back here with my family and they have pretty much stayed the same in terms of service and deliciousness. We ordered some potato skins to share to start our meal and they were a bit better than I remember them being. We came on a busy Wednesday night and the food took close to an hour to come out, but they were really busy so we weren't crazy upset. I could see some people getting upset though. I think my mother-in-law was about to kill someone if our food didn't arrive when it did.

I ordered the Ultimate Club Sandwich and it was good. I think it would have been better if they used better quality bread though. It seemed like regular run of the mill sandwich bread. I think using a nicer bread would have really made the sandwich better. As a side I got the smashed sweet potatoes and they were pretty good.

My father-in-law ordered the Texas Burger which comes without a bun, but it looked real good. I probably will try that next time we come here. The little buttered croissants are still crack and it is hard to just have one. My wife ordered the Island Chicken which I had some of and I liked the salsa that went with it. It was pretty tasty, but I didn't think it was a generous portion.

Rucker Johns continues to cook tasty meals, but falls short of being great due to serving sizes being short of generous and prices that seem a tad bit off. Still with that said, if someone wants to come here, it...

Friday 3/8/24-Second time going to this restaurant. We ordered the calamari which was great! My fiancé then got the chef salad for dinner and she enjoyed it. I ordered the tuna dinner-it came out looking dry and a little suspicious as far as if it had been sitting on line a bit too long idk. I tried it, and it was not very good at all. I HATE sending food back. I really can’t remember the last time I did so for me to send it back means it was not edible. I wasn’t mad, or impatient. In fact I wanted to make sure our sweet server knew that I was okay but the tuna was not.

I then decided to order the grilled shrimp wrap. It came out super super fast! Which isn’t a bad thing. About 2min later the cook/chef came out and without saying hi he ran up to us and asked “ CAN I ASK WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TUNA?” Caught off guard I told him the same I told our server…it was dry, the texture was not appetizing and over all not very good or how it was advertised.

I ate half of the shrimp wrap because now we’re just ready to leave. so I boxed the rest up, left a good tip because we loved our server!

Got home and 3.5 hours later I began violently throwing up and continued to for the next 8 hours!! Food poisoning, had to be from the shrimp wrap(that could have been undercooked? Since it came out so fast?) because it was the only thing my fiancé didn’t eat/take a bite of because she didn’t get sick but I did. Won’t be going back. Worst I’ve felt in my...

Went for a late lunch with my daughter and 4 year old granddaughter. Picked a table outside in the non smoking area. There was no one sitting in the non smoking area except for us.Ordered our food and just as our food came out , so did SIX OF THE RUDEST, LOUDEST TALKING, MOST DISRESPECTFUL , OBNOXIOUS, OBLIVIOUS PEOPLE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE !!!!! They stood ( absolutely no exaggeration here ) three to four feet from our table , so close that I could have reached out and touched them. They were talking so loudly that my daughter and granddaughter and I, could not hear each other talk. For OVER FORTY FIVE MINUTES !!! Toddlers eat slowly sometimes , and they also pick at their food sometimes . And on occasion , it is an hour to have a meal. I went in and spoke to the waitress , who apologized for the people, ( which wasn't necessary , being as it was not her fault that the people were from planet LET'S SCREW UP EVERYONE'S PEACEFUL LUNCHTIME ! ) THEN the manager came out and asked if we needed anything , glanced at the people , and went back inside . The AIR OF ENTITLEMENT of those people was disgusting !! I am 70 years old , and my mother raised me better than to behave like that. And the food was not very good either. And for spending almost $100. on lunch , and was charged for a refill on my tea , we will not be...
