I'd like to start by saying that I’ve always loved Mi Pueblo. It's been a family tradition for me since I was a child, and we've consistently had great experiences here. The service has always been friendly, and the employees have always made us feel welcome, which is why this restaurant has always held a special place in our hearts. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was nothing short of disappointing, and I feel compelled to share my experience.
When we arrived, we were greeted at the door, but things quickly took a turn once we were seated. To begin with, they served salsa to only three out of the four of us, completely ignoring our request for a fourth bowl. We were left waiting, with no acknowledgment of the mistake. It wasn’t the worst thing that could’ve happened, but it set the tone for the rest of the meal.
The real issue came with our waitress, who was uncharacteristically rude. She approached our table, stared at us without saying a word, and made no effort to explain she was there to take our orders. After an awkward silence, we placed our orders, but she left without a word, giving the impression that she was annoyed to be there. When our food finally arrived, she slammed the tray down on the table with no courtesy or communication, still remaining completely silent.
To make matters worse, when we glanced over at the table next to us, we saw her laughing and smiling with them, as if she had no issue being friendly with others. It was both hurtful and confusing, especially given that we had been regulars here for years.
I’d also like to mention that my father, Michael Marlowe, was a loyal patron of Mi Pueblo and came here nearly every day of his life. He passed away in a tragic drunk-driving golf cart accident two years ago, and he was well-known by many of the staff, including this particular waitress. Seeing how my family was treated during this visit was deeply upsetting. My father would have been incredibly disappointed to know that the establishment he held so dear could treat his family this way. It was a painful reminder of how things have changed, and I sincerely hope that Mi Pueblo reconsiders how they treat long-time,...

Mi Pueblo is located in the growing town of Statesville, NC. There is an emerging Latino population in this area and with it has come a beautiful array of flavors and fragrances that fill plates and blues stomachs.
On a Sunday afternoon about 2 pm there was still a good amount of room for individuals and families. The restaurant is thematically curated, highlighting the pleasantries of masonry and the delicacies of framed artwork. I did feel an anchoring resemblance of Mexican heritage as I walked through the venue.
The staff are friendly and attentive, the restroom was clean and a great sound immersive to get a break from talking and instead listen to the sonics of cumbia, reggaeton, bachata, y corridos.
Sitting near or adjacent to the bar will grant you access to a couple of big screens that play the “big game” for the day. There is descent but not overwhelming sound from the tvs so you can at least catch audio glimpses of What the most recent call was.
The food.
The chips were warm, unsalted, and very crunchy. The two salsa options were pretty gif in their descriptors—being mild and spicy. I’m sure if you’re looking for a greater kick you could ask and probably get what you’re looking for.
The flautas were well portioned, well seasoned, a great temperature, and the perfect texture of semi crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. The chicken tasted marinated. The cheese was generously applied. I was given the options of ranch and honey mustard sauces, tried them both (and appreciated them both) but they honestly weren’t even necessary. The queso that comes with them is a bit of a small portion, especially if the flautas are designed as an appetizer to share, but it packs a punch in flavor and is full bodied in taste.
They only had one hot tea option, but it was a great flavor and...
Read moreI have seen people post about the #tipthebill challenge. Never have I been struck to do that until last night. We took our 10 year old down town to get out of the house and go eat dinner. The evening slipped away from us and it wound up being almost 10pm and we still hadn't eaten. Our child, who is special needs wanted to go to the "Mexican restaurant with the quiet table". So we got to Mi Pueblos at around 9:45/9:50. They were empty and closing. We were met with a smile and a 'not to worry attitude'. I felt bad immediately for being so rude as to walk in at this time on a Wednesday night. Then we requested the "quiet table" which was in a part of the restaurant that they'd already cleaned. Again I was met with a 'it's absolutely no problem attitude'. The service was outstanding! They took such great care of us. Encouraging us not to worry about rushing and to enjoy ourselves. The food was criminally good!!! I am almost certain they had to reopen the kitchen for us and we ordered 3 full meals. Omg tho the food was just so good there are no words for it! They never left us unattended once and we left there happy. They absolutely deserved the tip they got and I hope they bought the kitchen a round of drinks as well! We will absolutely be back. Thank you Mi Pueblo for being...
