I know when I go to IHOP , I m going to fellowship with my friend. She and I have in depth conversation. The wait staff did check on us ,but they weren't intrusive. He was professional, friendly ,an good customer service. I know it's likely we'll visit again .Great food. Part 2... I will allow you to decide my goal is to lead with kindness and empathy. As my friend chose to meet for fellowship. We were sharing as always , I spied a roach in our booth. I was stunned that my voice was louder,So other patrons heard me. We requested the manager and of course we stopped our half eaten . My friend moved to my side of the booth. I of course pulled out my phone to take a picture of the creature. My friend witnessed the reaction of our assigned wait staff. Her dismay of me taking a picture and her negative reaction heard in the nearby kitchen and her reaction to us. My professional friend informed this person of her inappropriate behavior. The manager finally arrived and said he was aware and he comp. Our meal is 20%...I repeated what he said. We waited for no one came, to our table after their awareness. Other patrons moved so they wouldn't have the same experience. Our wait was another ,,.10 or 15 minutes no receipt,no intentional acknowledgement of our negative experience. My friend and I left after leaving our booth. We Requested the manager so she could voice her experience. But I realized several things that were going on . By the way, our waitress in the dining area casually voiced after our wait to pay for our meal that our meal was comped where other patrons heard her. The mgr. apologize after hearing my friend elegantly explain that it's not about the meal you need to understand our negative experience. The lack of courtesy and customer service. I reiterated that there was a lack of professional courtesy. This is the point ....our status has changed and we need to live in reality. This chain is no different than w...... H...... . Why you have limited (2)wait staff with unsurmountable responsibilities. Front desk service, wait staff of the dining area and busing tables, kitchen duty, prepping and cooking food. So if you work in that atmosphere you develop a rhythm and anything added annoys you. Awareness that franchise only see profit not the patron or the staff experience. Part of the staff's annoyance they call for an exterminator and the issue is ongoing and trying to stay up to code.( Instead of having a contractual visit to rid the concern. Something is going to be missed a positive experience ,we're in an atmosphere were we are to function with less staff and the means is to stress your loyalty. The difference is the time that we worked you had pride in your performance and product. The company had a loyalty to their employees. The company invested in your training with courtesy and customer service. So are you working for the means and your contribution will reflect it. The patron gets the loss of it. I have empathy for being in this atmosphere because this climate says uncertainty... We must believe better days...
Read moreI left a previous review about the ihop off of market street that wasn't good. We went there today and we had five people and they sat 2 people that were right before us at a big table then told us we'd have to wait 45 minutes to an hour instead of the 2 top waiting 5 minutes for a booth or a smaller table. So we called the one on Carolina beach road and headed there an ate. The waitress I fully believe was on or had to be on drugs. It took a minute for someone to come to the table then when she did she was rushed and rude. We put our order in and by the time I got my coffee it was cold. The food literally came out right after she brought us our drinks. That's how long it took for her to make them. She went out for a smoke break in the midst of us eating. She was not attentive we had to remind her for thing's. She never asked if we would like more drink. Our friends left but did not tip her. We actually tipped for them. The ticket was wrong she added our friends milk shake to our bill. She starts bussing but wasn't friendly pre busing the table she was actually busing it. She was slamming stuff around making me incredibly anxious. She aggressively picked up the high chair and smacked it into the side of the table. I don't know a better terminology to use outside of she mic dropped the straws on the table. I tried to be positive by saying she was on top of things to encourage better behavior from her by boosting her confidence with compliments. That did not work. Which I shouldn't as a paying customer ever feel I have to go to such lengths to get service and respect when no one was rude or disrespectful to her what so ever. She had to be on some kind of stimulant. Cocaine, Meth, Adderall something that's how bad it was. I didn't catch her name all I know is it's the ihop off of Carolina Beach Rd. in Wilmington and that she had her hair pulled to the side and braided with winged eyeliner and tattoo's. She also wore a white fuzzy leopard jacket. Hopefully management some body does something because this was beyond disrespectful. The food was ok. The service...
Read moreI have never had such an unpleasant experience at a restaurant that I have felt the need to leave a bad review but my experience at this location early this morning was so horrible it needs to be shared. When my boyfriend, our friend and I walked into the lobby there was no one around to greet us, seat us or even let us know if they were actually open. We sat in the lobby for at least 15 minutes before the “assistant manager” walked into the dining room wearing clothes that looked like he could’ve been living on the streets to tell us we could sit wherever we like and he would have someone come up to us soon. If this was not the only restaurant open besides Waffle House we would’ve left but instead we decided to sit down and give it a shot. I’m in the serving industry I can understand the stress of a busy night, but when we walked in the dining room was empty besides a table trying to check out (it took them over 20 minutes to do so) and a table of four that had their food brought out to them wrong at least twice in the time span we were there waiting to be seen . the “assistant manager” and server continued to walk past our table I realized it had been 15+ minutes and we still haven’t put in our drink order or even been told they will be with us soon. We finally get our drinks and then another 15/20 minutes pass before someone finally comes up to take our order. waiting for our food for about an hour we were not checked on once, offered refills or told our food would be coming soon. On top of everything that we experienced the “assistant manager” while closing out our bill proceeds to trash talk the employees saying “they were dumber than a box of rocks” but from what I could see he wasn’t working with much more than they were. The dining room was disgusting, service was horrible and bathrooms were an absolute mess. From what I saw from third shift “management” and staff there is absolutely no reason for this ihop to be open 24hours, it is giving a bad impression and probably doing nothing but losing money...
