Apparently my family and I are on a taco binge. Wanted to try this place because it has such a great reputation. Thankfully it held up to all that we had heard.
The cashier was super patient with us as we decided what we wanted. Ordered a few tacos and the dip trio. Starting with the dip trio....the guacamole is creamy and everything textural you want out of guacamole. It has the bright notes from the cilantro and lemon. The lemon is more of a leader than the cilantro but does not overpower. The queso was a hit or miss in my family. It def has the melty white cheese texture you would expect. The flavor is a bit different because it has a mixture of their magic seasoning and some other ingredients. I personally didn’t mind it nor did my 11 year old. The salsa is not a chunky salsa. Def more of a finer dice. It was a bit too spicy for my tastes. I know I know. Wimp.
Let’s move on to the tacos....
Grilled chicken taco - the fluffy tortilla crumbles apart like most of my life but is darn good! I didn’t mind it and it still held together all the goodies inside. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. Not soggy sitting in it’s own juicy for hours moist, but dang they actually cooked it right moist. Fresh toppings just adding more texture and brightness to the taco. A win for all of us at table.
Korean beef taco - a bit heavy on the yum yum sauce. Way too spicy for my tastes. Didn’t come with the fluffy taco shell (insert sad face here). The steak was seasoned well and moist. The wontons were barely noticeable on the taco. I felt bad for the little guys. This one wasn’t one I would order again.
Bang bang shrimp taco - seasonal taco. Ok I know I was crazy to order it. I mean it has sriracha sauce on it!?!? But I do love bang bang shrimp. Yes it was spicy as heck and not just because of the sauce. The shrimp were on fire as well. I wish the shrimp had kept it’s crispiness. It wasn’t on a fluffy taco shell either. I could do without this one either.
Beef original - so um yes. This one was sooooooooo good. I would order this one a million times again.
All in all. Maybe I’m just boring and my taste buds just want old school tacos but I did love the grilled chicken and beef taco. Divine taco greatness right there. Any taco you order, whatever your taste buds scream for.....make it a fluffy...
Read moreLast night, I had a pretty disappointing experience at this restaurant. When I walked in and ordered my food, I could clearly hear a woman in the kitchen venting about how long she had been working that day and she’s tired of it. While I understand everyone has tough days, it was unprofessional and awkward to overhear her frustration so clearly.
Things didn’t improve when I changed my queso size at my boyfriend’s request. The employee behind the counter (not the one taking my order) let out an exaggerated huff and rolled her eyes, which was unnecessary and off-putting. When she brought my food to me, there was no attempt at basic customer service—no smile, no “how are you,” no “have a good night,” just a dull “yup” with a blank face.
I always try to be polite and considerate to those working in service, so I thanked her and wished her a good night, but her response really stuck with me. Honestly, if you’re that unhappy in your job, maybe it’s time to reconsider your role. It’s important to remember that a lot of people would be grateful for a job, especially in tough times. We all have hard days, but it’s unfair to let that affect others. Everyone deserves to have a positive interaction, no matter how your day is going. I think this employee needs to be spoken to about professionalism and basic courtesy, and maybe look for a role better fitting for her attitude and mindset. Other than that interaction my food was amazing but how I’m treated matters more than the food, I can get good tacos anywhere and I’ll choose to support another...
