Learn moreI’m not really sure what the hype is about this place. At first, we were excited because the atmosphere seemed really fun; we sat at the outdoor bar area. The seats were those die cut steel bar stools that every “trendy” restaurant uses these days. They are also uncomfortable and impractical for the outdoor stone patio. Our server was very sweet, but obviously had too many tables since multiple parties which sat down after us were able to put in their food orders with their servers before ours could get to us. My husband ordered wings, with taco dust, and street corn, hold the cilantro. I ordered three brisket tacos, rice, beans, and Street corn, hold the Bang-a-rang sauce because the server advised it was a little spicy. I inquired if the taco dust which came on the corn had any kick because I’m a wimp when it comes to spiciness. He assured me it didn’t. When our food did finally arrive, we immediately noticed that they forgot the queso fresco on my husband’s corn. I had to point to the menu item’s description that it was to be included. The waiter did not go immediately to the kitchen to have it fixed but rather put the order into their system as a rush. Ten minutes later, the food runner brought out queso dip instead of queso fresco. Mine had queso fresco but very sparingly. The wings were overdone, but we can overlook that. My tacos weren’t anything exciting. The brisket was flavorless, but I didn’t get crazy ingredients like pickled radishes added. So maybe that’s why the meat is so plain. The street corn was boring other than WAY too spicy. We suspect that they used the wrong seasoning as my husband said the taco dust in his wings was very mild compared to the spice used on the corn. The rice was fine but the beans weren’t good. Ultimately, my husband ate about 1/3 of a piece of corn (they came in a group of four, so about 1/12 of the order) before giving up and deciding he couldn’t eat more of it because it was flavorless other than setting his mouth on fire. Mine was too spicy for me too, but I only had the “taco dust.” After we told our server that the corn was just not very good, the response was, “Oh I’m sorry, do you want the check?” No effort to make it right. When we received the check, we noticed they tried to charge us for the queso dip. That was fixed quickly but it was the only quick thing in our entire experience. Never returning. Overpriced and...
Read moreCool little taco joint with a nice patio. If you’re looking for something casual, relaxed and outdoors this is a good spot. The food was good, although do not expect authentic Mexican food.
Food:
Apps were good social starters that one would expect from a Mexican spot. Chips didn’t come out with a large selection of salsa, not sure if this was missed or just not offered. Guacamole was good quality, not as spicy as I personally prefer and they didn’t have fresh jalapeños which seemed odd Queso was great, one of the better I’ve had and had three different spice levels so anyone could be satisfied depending on what they are looking for in a queso. Tacos were creative and tasted good, but weren’t delivered to the table hot (the one with the brisket was by far my favorite)
Drinks: Great selection of Margaritas and beer My friends shared that their drinks were great but they stuck to the above Should be a given at a Mexican place but I’d avoid the mojitos, wasn’t in the mood for tequila so I took a chance and wouldn’t suggest this
Service: This is where it goes from an affordable 5 star option down to a four star review. The employees at check-in were nice, those that I talked to we’re polite but didn’t go out of the way to make it feel like an experience. Our waitress didn’t really check in with us, make helpful suggestions, or even really engage beyond what ordering. She even brought the wrong drink to someone at our table and didn’t really capitalize on the opportunity to fix it and asked if the one she brought would be okay. Even if someone said yes it was fine, bringing the correctly ordered drink to the table would be a simple gesture to make this a complete experience.
All in all, I’d go back if I was in the area. Not somewhere I’d drive out of my way to make a destination for a group of people or...
Read moreWe ordered takeout through DoorDash. Nothing was horrible, I just was not very impressed with any of the food. It was not bad, but the portions were very small and I don’t think it was good enough for the price. We ordered a random selection of tacos so we could try a little of everything. We got a few tacos that had pickled olives or pickled radishes, and that was all you could taste. There weren’t a lot on there, but it completely overwhelmed everything else in the taco. Even if you picked them off, that was still all you could taste. Out of the 6 different tacos we ordered, only one was any good. Cluck Norris was delicious! (Seriously, the third star is all for Cluck. It was great!) On the Baco Tell (basically just a normal taco) the beef was very dry, and the meat had a very odd seasoning that made it taste funny. It almost tasted like tofu. We also ordered the nachos appetizer, and if you are a fan of guacamole, this dish is for you! While we like guac, there was a TON on there. Way too much considering how few chips you get, and twice as much guac as all the other toppings combined. The tacos came with a side of rice and a side of beans. These sides came in the same little round plastic containers that your dressing for a salad usually comes in if you order takeout from somewhere. The rice amounted to about three spoonfuls. Overall, I was generally unimpressed. Definitely not something I’m going to order again. Aside from the very small portions for the sides, and the general odd taste of everything, nothing was bad. But also nothing tasted like a...
