Learn moreCame to shop at Best Buy and saw this place was nearby so I decided to swing back for dinner for my wife and I after we finished shopping. Well I'm glad we did! This establishment was very nice and clean. My wife and I love to visit new Mexican restaurants and pretty much always get the same thing at every one... I always order (or try to) Tacos Campechanos. El Campesino did not have them on the menu but when I explained how they were made, they readily agreed to fix me right up!! The flavor was awesome! And my wife always orders Taco salad in one way or another (either regular taco salad with beef or chicken or fajita taco salad with shrimp or chicken) This particular time she ordered regular taco salad with chicken. She said that the chicken had so much flavor and that it may be the best she ever had. That says a lot because she is picky about it sometimes lol. And we always get a pitcher of Texas Margaritas and want them made with Don Julio Reposada Tequila. The waiter/bartender informed us that it would be expensive to make them as ordered. I wasn't worried about that. As I said we we always order these and wanted to try theirs and boy were they great!! Another shot of tequila in them would have made them awesome! Lol. And just in case anyone wonders, the price of them was the same as everywhere else that we ordered them from when made as we requested. Sad part is our server (Alfredo I think) left for the night before we finished. I left his tip with the manager so hopefully she gave him it all. Haha. So my review is definitely 5 stars! Portion size was very big and food and drinks were excellent. Service was excellent! I was too full for dessert but want to try out their Pina colada cake and Churro Cup Delight. We will definitely make the hour drive to visit again and will bring our good friend that works at our local Mexican restaurant. He wants to try out...
Read moreI love the restaurant. Been going there for years. Haven’t been there in last year because of covid but today I took my wife there for the first time. After getting seated nobody came to table for over 10 minutes which we understand that everyone is short staffed. When waitress showed up we put in order two pops, two waters and an appetizer. Few minutes later she is approaching table with all 4 drinks in her hand no tray to table cursing because they were slipping and dropped right on the table spilling a whole pop on my face & my clothes and piece of ice hitting me in the eye. She said sorry; I understand mistakes happen but what made me upset is that she didn’t even get me any napkins or anything until I asked. She didn’t even say let me move you to the different table because entire floor is wet. I went to restroom to clean my eye because it was bloodshot red and was hurting. The worst part was no manager came out to see what happened or even when we get up to leave because my clothes were wet. I was telling my wife how nice this place was and how love it right before we sat down but the way management handled this situation I probably will never be back to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. I wasn’t looking for anything from the management but when your server literally gave customer a red eye and dropped the drink all over them I think apology would had been nice. None of management bother to come out to address the problem. Very very...
Read moreEl Campesino is an out of the way Mexican restaurant in Robinson. Located over by Home Depot, Best Buy, and in the same little strip as Buffalo Wild Wings, it's unassuming, but nice.
We went on Cinco de Mayo and it was crowded, but not overly so. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and we were seated within 10 minutes. The actual restaurant is not very wide, but is longer than it would appear. We were seated near the back, which took a little walk.
Our waiter was friendly and promptly brought us chips and picante (NOT salsa). The picante was a bit thin for my taste, but otherwise tasty. The chips were.... chips.
The menu has standard Tex-Mex American fare. Tortillas, enchiladas, tacos, etc. I ordered the chimichanga to see what it was like. The food arrived quickly and was hot and fresh. It tasted good, though I prefer my chimis a lot crispier when fried. The wife had enchiladas, and they were tasty. Nothing spectacular, but tasty nonetheless.
Menu prices were a bit high in my opinion. Not outrageous, but higher than I would have thought. The place was clean and decorated nicely.
All in all not a bad place by any stretch. But nothing spectacular to recommend either. I would go back, definitely, but really only if there wasn't another Mexican...
