I wanted to write this review especially because of an incident that literally changed my life by an employee’s actions and empathy. MARISOL will forever be in my heart and should be highly respected appreciated and acknowledged for her outstanding contributions to society by simply being herself. All companies especially in customer services should hire employees like this. It would change the world making it a much better world. We were visiting family in Las Vegas at this establishment where my older daughter was having a rough kid day and had an aggressive ADHD meltdown tantrum. As a mom who believes in gentle parenting strategies, I did my best to take her outside and have a reflection moment to help her through the bad behavior. She was kicking me and fighting trying to run out into the parking lot which is not safe so I tried to hug her and comfort her until she was able to calm down a bit. Doing my best to teach her proper behavior in restaurants. 🤷♀️💜 When she calmed enough to return to the table she started fighting with her sister again and I was distraught. Finally she was given a gaming screen (but this was not the best answer to her tantrum I know but it was the only thing that stopped her from acting out) I took her sister to the restroom and completely lost it. I started crying the tears I held back through all this as I couldn’t contain them anymore. Once I calmed myself down we were washing our hands. Marisol was in the restroom by the sinks and offered such kind encouraging words to me as well and asking me if I needed a hug which I desperately did. After her kindness I was able to recompose myself and head back to our table. She also extended another kindness offering to purchase me a desert once we got back to the table. I tried to tip her to thank her and she completely refused the tip even though she really deserved it. People may not realize how much these simple gestures of kindness can mean to someone else. There needs to be more people like Marisol in this world changing lives. Her kindness will never be forgotten and her words will always remain with me to remind me that I’m doing a good job parenting and that everything will be ok. Sometimes all it takes to save a life is a smile or kind word so I promise to pay it forward if I ever see someone in distress or who looks sad and needs a kind word or offer a hug. This sort of kindness sets off a chain reaction of love into the world. Thank you from my entire heart Marisol! I also want to thank the server and manager that took care of us as well. It’s not easy to give service to families whose children may be acting up making it more difficult to take an order etc. thanks to this wonderful Olive Garden for hiring such a...
Read moreToday, my coworker and I had lunch at Olive Garden around 11:30 AM. We're both in the Nevada Army National Guard and were conducting drill, so we were in uniform. We had to return to work by 1 PM and figured we had enough time.
We were seated immediately, and our server quickly ordered our drink. We ordered mozzarella sticks, breadsticks, and Alfredo dipping sauce as an appetizer. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with Toscana soup for our meals, and my coworker ordered the baked ziti with salad.
Our drinks, breadsticks, appetizers, soup, and salad came out quickly, which was great. But when it came to our entrées, the service completely fell apart. We waited much longer than expected. We watched two families seated after us receive their meals before we did--one sitting directly before us.
With time running out, we asked for our entrées to be packed to go. The waitress took forever to bring the takeout containers. Since our food had already been sitting there, we started eating so it wouldn't get cold while we waited. It wasn't until my coworker physically got up from the booth and approached the manager, Yolanda, that our food was finally brought out.
Yolanda was the one bright spot of the experience. She came by our table twice to thank us for our service and even shared that a kind stranger had donated a $50 gift card for our meal. Our total was $62.58, and my coworker paid the remaining $12.58 in cash, along with a $5 tip for the server. I don't think the waitress earned that tip, but my coworker used to work in the industry and felt terrible.
Even with a generous gesture from a stranger and Yolanda's professionalism, the service from our waitress dragged down the experience. We barely made it back to work on time and left disappointed.
Overall: 2 out of 5 stars Poor service ruined what could have been a smooth lunch. We were in uniform and on a time crunch, but the staff didn’t care.
Food: 4 out of 5 stars The food tasted great and was still hot when it arrived. There were no complaints about flavor or temperature; it was just the long delay in getting our entrées.
Service: 1 out of 5 stars Unacceptable. Our waitress took forever to bring our entrées and to-go boxes. Tables seated after us were served first. We had to track down the manager to get our food finally.
Atmosphere: 3 out of 5 stars The restaurant was clean and calm, but it was uncomfortable watching other tables get better service while we, in uniform,...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at Olive Garden – Never Again
Yesterday, I decided to enjoy a laid-back dinner at Olive Garden, expecting a pleasant experience. However, what unfolded was far from enjoyable.
Upon arriving, I was in good spirits and requested my non-alcoholic drink, a simple Ginger Ale, to be served in a wine or champagne glass—something I’ve done at other restaurants without issue. Instead of accommodating a paying customer’s reasonable request, the staff made an unnecessary fuss, outright refusing to serve my drink in anything other than a standard cup. The only way I could get a wine glass was by ordering actual wine, which I didn’t truly want but ended up purchasing just to avoid further back-and-forth.
When the wine glass finally arrived, it was shockingly filthy—covered in food debris and residue. I immediately pointed it out to my waiter, who appeared just as surprised as I was and even questioned why the bartender would send out such a dirty glass. He took it back, but when he returned, it seemed like they had simply wiped off the residue rather than properly washing it. At that point, I chose to trust that it was clean, though I was already feeling uneasy about the situation.
For my meal, I ordered the unlimited soup and salad. Unfortunately, the first bowl of soup was nearly inedible—thin, watery, and completely lacking in substance. There was no meat, barely any ingredients, and the broth tasted as if it had been over-diluted. I expected better quality, but I tried to make the best of it.
A few hours after eating, I regretted my decision entirely. Once I got home, I was overcome with excruciating stomach pain, which quickly escalated into violent vomiting and uncontrollable diarrhea—both happening simultaneously. It was a miserable and painful experience that left no doubt in my mind that it stemmed from the meal I had at Olive Garden.
This level of carelessness in food preparation and service is completely unacceptable. I went in expecting a relaxing meal and left with food poisoning and a ruined evening. Given this experience, I will never be returning to this location, and I strongly urge others to reconsider dining here if they value their health and...
