This is a small venue and dining space has been further reduced by at least half due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. It wasn't crowded when I came here with my family on a Sunday evening before they closed, but I can see how this place could easily get packed quickly and easily on a busy day such as Friday or Saturday night. The first thing that catches your eye when you enter is a red decorative wall with a golden phoenix and golden dragon on the right. The staff seemed to be native Asian and they speak to each other in fluent Mandarin or Cantonese. Our waitress even wrote our order in the same language. I had to ask what each item was when I was checking my order as I was getting ready to pay my bill. LOL To me, this is a good indication of the level of authenticity of the cuisine on their menu. Speaking of their menu, I was impressed by the aesthetician good looks of their menu. Simple and elegant, like something you would expect to find in an upscale restaurant. Kudos to whomever is responsible for the design!

To drink they have hot tea and all the popular canned sodas. They have a wine and import beer selection as well. I didn't ask and don't remember if they serve sake. As far as the food is concerned, they offer all the classic/traditional plates that you expect to find in most Chinese food restaurants, but the food tasted particularly fresh and it took a bit to come out (maybe seemed like a longer time than what it actually was because we were hungry) so it was probably prepared after we ordered it. It certainly didn't taste reheated or as if it had been sitting for any amount of time. I've come to learn that not too many places serve Mapo Tofu and those that do usually have a tastier selection and good chefs preparing the food. Sang's Chinese Food and Dim Sum is one of those places. If you've never tasted this dish, here would be a good place to try it! I was thinking more with my stomach at that time, but I don't remember seeing much of a selection of Dim Sum on the menu (at least not pictured). I remember thinking to myself, for a place with Dim Sum embedded in its name, you'd think there'd be an abundance of it on their menu. Maybe it was on a separate menu and/or you had to ask for it. All I know is that it was not prominent on the menu that we were given. In general terms based on what we ordered and what the tables around us ordered, I can tell youtheir food presentation is decent and it tastes great. Also, don't you wish someone had told you: they serve large portions! We came with empty stomachs and ended up taking half of our food to go after stuffing our faces! My wife liked it so much that she went back the next day after we ate all the leftovers and she's a bit picky when it comes to food plus they're a bit of a drive away from us. Overall we enjoyed our visit and loved the food. We already came back once and are likely...

I had craving for dim sum and Sang's was the only one close by my home. I've passed by this place for years but never had the nerve to go in. The outside looks like a dump but one thing I noticed was that there's always cars parked in front. I finally took a chance a couple of weeks ago and had a good experience.

Again, don't expect anything fancy once you're inside. The place is huge, dimly lit with old furniture. Of course, some tables do have lazy suzans :) I was by myself so I opted to sit by the window. The sun was blaring so my server immediately closed the blinds. Once I sat down, she handed me a blank photocopy of the dim sum menu. It's probably been copied too many times because I couldn't read some of the words..lol :) I just knew that I wanted pork shumai, steamed pork buns, steamed spare ribs, and any dumplings with shrimp. 10 - 15 minutes later, my food came and they were served piping hot. The dimsum didn't taste frozen and surprisingly very tasty comparable to the ones I ate in Chinatown San Fran. The only thing I didn't like was the BBQ pork buns. They didn't have enough meat inside, mostly dough.

For less than $20, I ate like a king here. The food was decent and the staff was very nice. My server even warned me that I probably ordered too much which I did :) I'm now a fan of this hole in the wall and will be back soon.

Update:

Sang's has been around for years in North Miami and this is my go-to dim sum near my home. It's not the nicest looking restaurant. Let's just say, it's very outdated "aka" hole in the wall. The dining room looks like a cafeteria. The storefront is falling apart. But it's the food that really kept me coming back for more. It's super affordable. The dim sum is piping hot. And the servers have been working there since it first opened so they know the regulars by name.

I love their dim sum here and always get pretty much the same items. Shrimp Shumai, Steamed Shrimp Dumplings, BBQ Pork Buns, and Fried Taro Shrimp. Each order comes with 3 or 4 pieces and the average price is only about $3.50. They also have good lunch specials for $10. My favorite, of course, is the General Cheng's but the last time I was here, I got the Shredded Pork Szechuan and it was fantastic. It came with pork fried rice and eggroll too.

Love places like this. No frills, cheap and tasty food and you get a lot for the money. I just hope they last for another decade because there's a lot of development...

Omg I can not believe this! Did you know this about this restaurant? Before to go stop and read this.. You can save your health..

SANG’S CHINESE FOOD -🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳

Address: 1925 NE 163rd Street, North Miami Beach

The restaurant was ordered shut on July 29 due to a staggering 17 violations, including repeated health concerns. This isn't the first time they've faced issues; they've been shut down previously on multiple occasions: March 11, 2025, May 23, 2022, April 11, 2017, and July 30, 2014.

During the latest inspection, inspectors found clear evidence of rodent activity, with droppings observed under the dishwasher and around the kitchen. There were also live roaches spotted under the dishwasher and on the front counter where napkins are kept. It’s alarming to see that there were also numerous dead roaches throughout the premises, including in the back storage area and even in the lobby.

On top of that, the food-contact surfaces were dirty, with grease buildup on kitchen tools and equipment. The handwashing sink was blocked by clean dishes, making it inaccessible for staff. A follow-up inspection on July 30 revealed even more issues, including 25+ rodent droppings near the dumpling prep area and multiple dead and live roaches scattered around the kitchen and dining area.

I strongly advise against dining here until they take serious steps to address these sanitation concerns. It’s not just about the food; it’s about health and...
