Babakas pizzeria — Restaurant in North Myrtle Beach

I recently came here with my big family. We ordered a variety of different items and they came out in a timely manner. Pizza was good, Stromboli was good, the seafood pasta was extremely fishy tasting. Remember just because your at the beach that doesn’t mean that every places seafood is fresh. We also ordered a steak and cheese. The menu says that it is on a 11inch bun which maybe true, but there was about 4 inches worth of stuff inside the bun. Not to mention each additional item you add onto the basic steak and cheese is $.50 extra. I could only give 3 stars because I feel that this place is overpriced and the service wasn’t that great even though we were the only people in the restaurant and probably spent the most money for the day. It’s been a few years since I have eaten at Babaka’s. It’s still the floppy mess that it was the last time I had one. It’s so obvious that no one cares. The ingredients are randomly tossed on what is a fairly decent sauce. But think about it, all of the individual ingredients are purchased from a supplier like other similar pizzerias , nothing unique here. Then Babaka’s supposedly make their own crust and then all you have to do is know how to cook it. They must heat the oven to about 250F because the pepperoni was barely cooked at all. The doesn’t really taste bad, but it is a messy glob of dough saturated in liquid. Dave Portnoy would throw it on to the street. Some pepperoni was stacked in “threes”. For many years I have ordered great pizza from Babaka’s. Tonight I ordered pizza and salad online. It was delivered in about 40 minutes. I had cash in my hand to pay the young man who made the delivery. He told me that my credit card had been charged for the order. With the cash, I wanted to add a few dollars to his tip. By mistake I included a $20 bill with a couple of singles. After closing the door, I realized what I had done but he was gone. So be it, MY mistake! Several hours later when locking th door, my houseguest found a $20 bill stuck in the door. I was just bowled over! Things like that do not happen all the time these days. Like I said, MY mistake.
