Basil's was our main CG go-to for years. We were so happy when we saw that they still would be similar at least based on the menu. Well. We wouldn't know if the food is similar or not because they now have a call center answering calls and when you do try to get the restaurant directly they literally have a phone system that screens/blocks you from reaching them. They also turned off takeout orders. If you aren't the same restaurant owners and menu with the same level of service, then you should not use the same 1000+ Google reviews that Basil's earned. Beyond frustrated.

Edit: In response to the owner's comment on my review where they suggested that we find another restaurant if we do not like fresh food and saying that they have wonderful employees, I do not know if you have fresh food or wonderful employees because management turned off orders and has set up a phone system that actively, purposefully blocks/screens potential customers from being able to speak to your employees. We very much wanted to eat from there and tried, but neither we nor the hired answering service could even reach anyone at the restaurant. Restaurants should answer the phone - in person. My Google reviews and photos presently have over 5.8 million views, and the vast majority are positive. I sincerely hope that the management of this restaurant addresses the issues and reconsiders the phone process. I also hope that the snarky comments that have been made to multiple Google reviews of your restaurant stop. Mistakes happen. New businesses have bumps. Customer service matters most - always. We wish your...

Food was okay. Sauce felt like it was out of the can. I miss the old basils but twisted penguin was okay. Server was extremely busy but wasn’t answering questions about the food was rushy . Food is sports bar quality . Atmosphere okay.

Update to the person who commented on this before the owner response.I was generous with the 3 stars: truely the waitress never answered our questions just said ok wrote it down and brought us the food. Brought us wrong drinks. And your carbonation to syrup for soda machine is off. She was Bad listener and terrible at service. Never even mentioned her name. The food, of course not basil quality was tbh quite embarrassing for the price. Atmosphere not on you very annoying man squealing like a pig when laughing because of how drunk he got, maybe bar tenders need to know when to cut off people . I will stand by your sauce comment out of a can, bland and pizza was stale and cold not even cut when brought out. And 45 min wait was sad and was even the wrong pizza. You clearly never even read my review because I never once mentioned allergies. It’s a sports bar I wasn’t expecting grand but pizza and wings would have been better at a grocery store than yall.

To the owner, we r giving it another go another visit. It’s clear some staff is very good at their jobs and with the in demand at times due to crowds but others are over whelmed, training may need to be revisited . Thank you for your...

The kitchen, cooking and server personnel greeted us all at once when we walked in the door, we were seated immediately, and the pizza was amazing. The pizza was so good, we decided to go to this restaurant for lunch 2 days, consecutively. The first day, we had a nice lady serve us and the 2nd day, we had a nice young man serve us. The lady that served us on the first day was helping the kitchen personnel on the 2nd day. The young man that served us on the 2nd day, he told me that he started working for them when he was a teenager and did different jobs in the kitchen, around the restaurant and then ultimately cooking and or serving. My wife and I had the specialty white pizza (fresh tomatoes garlic etc) and on the 2nd day, I had spaghetti and meatballs along with the white pizza. My brother and his family had pepperoni pizza and a slice of cheese pizza for their daughter. My wife ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and salad on the 2nd day. This place was within walking distance of the resort where we stayed in North Myrtle Beach. Highly recommend!

We had eaten at this restaurant many times over the years when it was called Basil's. We were so glad to see that with a new owner and new name that The Twisted Penguin had kept the same great laid back atmosphere and many of the same or similar food items on the menu. The wings were outstanding (especially the garlic parmesan and sweet heat) and the smash burger was delicious. We throughly enjoyed our food and our waitress was fantastic and attentive. We highly recommend this place. As you can see from one of the pictures, the atmosphere outside is very casual with twinkling lights and is just perfect with a steady breeze blowing. The waitress offered us a set of oversized Uno cards for us to play while we waited on our food. It was one of favorites places to eat on our trip. It was a perfect location for us from our condo as we walked about 1 block to it and then across the street to pick up some items at Boulineau's. Great food, great times, and great memories. Highly recommend! Be sure to ask them about their special which differ each night and their early bird menu.

Wholly molly was this place awesome. Service a bit on the slower side but all was forgiven when I took my first bite of their wings. We ordered a 20 piece. 10 hot buffalo and 10 bbq. Jesus, that bbq sauce was amazing. We had ordered the cheese triangles for our appetizer but they arrived after we were almost done with the wings. No worries about that because the wife owner served them herself and apologized for the mistake. That’s when she informed us that the sauces are made by her husband owner and I sent my praises. The marinara sauce was so good, I drank it. Honestly some of the best wings I’ve ever had.
