Last night, two family members and I were treated very rudely by Mike, the outside bartender/co-owner. We had a tab with at least 12 mixed drinks on it. My aunt went to the bar to get 2 ice waters, we both were driving later and were going to switch to water. She sat at the bar 5 minutes before being waited on, but was given the 2 waters. I went back to get them refilled about 20 minutes later. When I asked for the refills, Mike said, "I don't do water", and he walked away..wth? I had to ask the waitress for it when she got close to me. I told her what he'd said, she tried to make excuses for him by saying he was probably joking. I told her definitely not. I went in and asked who the manager was, the inside female waitress told me it was Mike. Told her what happened and how rude he was about it, and she apologized and said she would've gotten it for me. Found out after I left, Mike had told my aunt there was a water fountain if we wanted water. I hadn't seen the fountain, but would've refilled cups there if I'd known. I went to tab out and spoke to Mike to let him know how disappointed I was to have a decent size tab and be told "no", especially so rudely, when asking for water. He made the female waitress check me out. I've NEVER left a bar, restaurant, etc without tipping, but I did last night. Told her it's a shame her boss didn't care anymore about her than to act like an A$$hole, I wasn't leaving a tip because I couldn't guarantee he wouldn't get part of it. We were there to see the Tim Elliott Band, this pissed me off, and messed up a really fun night. Great place to sit outside and see the ocean, but not sure...
Read moreI want to go ahead and start off by saying 6 of my friends and I have just graduated college out of North Carolina. We wanted to have a nice relaxing beach week especially after taking exams. I get the whole college stereotype in Myrtle beach and that all college students are apparently the same and want to wreck everything in there path by being heavily intoxicated. That is not our group at all, we were not even given the chance to sit down before a waitress practically ran over and said we couldn’t move the chairs and that their establishment was not serving college students. We were not allowed to get an explanation or even say that’s not how we are, we really wanted to just sit outside on the beach and have a late lunch. We were also ridiculed by surrounding customers and given dirty looks like this establishment had never seen someone that is over the age of 21. My entire friend group was told “there are signs you guys should have known you weren’t allowed here” almost like the customers were mad because we had stepped foot into their so called territory, was also said we couldn’t get an explanation from the owner on why we were getting rudely kicked out. I have never been apart of such a disrespectful setting in a restaurant that is so called “ inviting and respectful” environment. I do not suggest you go to this establishment unless you are over 45 and drink Tecate as your choice of beer or you won’t be...
Read moreVisiting from out of town and wanted to find a low key place to grab a bite to eat and get a drink after finishing parasailing next door. We drove around and couldn't find anything so ultimately ended up at Murphy's despite the huge politically inspired flag they have flying outside (why would you try to advertise your political beliefs in the middle of a tourist destination???)
Anyway, the crowd inside was exactly what I was afraid it would be. It's a biker bar for sure (which I could normally handle) full of mostly middle aged white men (which explains the flag outside.) The uniforms are literally rebel/Confederate flags (hello its 2018) and the waitress acted confused when I asked about what beers are on draft (none) and when my friend requested a very common mixed drink.
Honestly though, I could've maybe handled all that if it wasn't for the fact that as soon as we sat down, the juke box was playing some country song that literally blasted the n word (in a very derogatory slave like reference) throughout the entire bar. I should've gotten up and left right then, especially when I looked around and realised I was the only one offended. So that's my fault.
It's a real shame because the food was decent and I believe I met the owner briefly who thanked us for stopping by. But man, there were just too many strikes...
