Read moreLet me begin by saying I wish I would’ve stayed home. The experience was awful from beginning to end. We checked in on the app and when we arrived to the restaurant, we went inside and told the hostess we were here. She said it would be about a 10 to 15 minute wait. So about after 10 minutes we received another text message saying that our table was ready. We proceeded to go to the hostess stand and let her know that our table was ready. She asked us for the phone number and then she told us it would be 10 to 15 minutes. I told her that I already received the text saying that the table was ready. She told me that we were never checked in. I showed her the phone and she still did not believe me. The other hostess stepped in and said oh that’s OK. I’ll take care of you. The hostess made us feel like we were trying to cheat the system and wanted a table right away when in fact, we did check in on the way to the restaurant and checked in with the host upon arrival and waited an additional 10 minutes. I don’t know what the whole confusion was about. When the server came to the table, we had asked her for a gluten-free menu because we were so flustered from the debacle at the hostess stand that we forgot to ask for one. She came back a few minutes later with the menu and offered us some appetizers. We politely declined because we hadn’t had a chance to go over the gluten-free menu options yet. After coming back a few minutes later, we ordered and got the specials that came with either a soup or salad, and then the entrée and then dessert. I ordered my salad with blue cheese, which looked like it had been thrown together by a child. Surprisingly enough, it came with croutons, which was fine because I was not the one with the allergy but we were never offered bread. About a good half an hour went by and we sat there wondering what was the issue because we both ordered small, simple, non-modified entrees which shouldn’t take that very long to cook in my opinion. The food order came out with the food eventually and I had asked her if we could please have some bread. She responded by saying that they were making some right now and it is still probably in the oven and she will get us some. A few moments later, she brings me the bread that was room temperature and looked like it had been on someone else’s table. It was not hot, it was not even remotely warm. I was afraid to eat it. The steak and grilled chicken were also room temperature at best. I’m not sure if someone had left them on the pass way too long or it was improperly prepared from the beginning. When the time came for dessert, we decided to have the chocolate thunder from down under. I wish I would have taken a pic of how poorly presented that monstrosity was. It looked like someone poured heavy cream over an undercooked brownie and then played frisbee with it. The cherry on top to our dreadful experience was that we were charged a mysterious game fee that no one partook in much less ordered from the ziosk. We had to flag down the server to take it off. Not only did she attend to our every need with utmost care, but she also went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. What warmed my heart even more was when I mentioned that my friend works at Food Lion, and to my surprise, Patty knew her! Apparently, Patty is a regular at Food Lion and had interacted with my friend there. I was touched to hear that she was extremely nice to my friend and even took the time to appreciate her hard work by calling corporate to praise her exceptional skills. It speaks volumes about Patty's character and her ability to spread kindness wherever she goes.
As if our day couldn't get any better, we were also lucky enough to be served by Darrie C. This amazing waitress had a genuine care for us and made sure every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. She followed up on our needs, engaged us with her fantastic sense of humor, and made us feel like valued guests throughout our time at the restaurant.
