I drove 40 minutes to Hickory Tavern 3 weeks ago with my family. Three of us went for the shrimp and grits and my other child wanted chicken wings due to his seafood allergy. After placing our drink order and appetizer and receiving them, we began eating and the waitress returned for our entree order and informed us that they were out of shrimp and grits and out of chicken wings. We paid the tab for the portion we received and left for a different restaurant. This afternoon, we had a craving for those same entrees again, so we drove down to Hickory Tavern. After receiving our drinks, chips and queso, we went to place our order for 4 shrimp and grits and one order of chicken wings and we were told that they were out of grits again. Do you think the manager even had the professionalism to come to my table and speak to me after I told my waitress that this was twice in three weeks that I have driven to Hickory Tavern for shrimp and grits and been told they were out? I saw the waitress when she went to the kitchen door and told him the situation and his body language spoke for itself. He acted as if he could careless. Needless to say, I won't be visiting their restaurant again nor will my wife hold her business Christmas parties there again. I've tried twice to eat their shrimp and grits and I've yet to have a plate of them. So there will not be a third strike for me. To my waitress, you were great and did your job and I tipped you for your service. But, your manager should have compensated me something for his failures. A brief "I'm sorry Sir, don't worry about the teas, they are on the house," or "the chips and queso is on us tonight" would have saved your reputation in...
Read moreThe worst experience ever and it got worse! We stopped in to have our usual and noticed that the place was kinda dead. The waitress came took our order and when she dropped it off I looked at it and she could tell that I was displeased and right away without me saying anything she began to tell me they were aware that the burgers are coming out so greasy that the buns are saturated. I said yes and what about the nasty looking diced up red onions everytime before they were thin sliced yellow onions she said yea and we have to charge you $1 up charge for them now! I said why if you know all of this when I ordered you should tell about it then! Well no can I get you something else it and it was like was like you just have to keep paying until the cook gets it right! Well when we got the credit card statement back she had charged us double so we called her over it was like no big deal ran our card again and we left. Next day both charges were on our card, so we stopped back in to see a manager we waited 20 minutes because the host said all 3 managers were in the bathroom. When the manager came out we explained our dissatisfaction only to get the same storie the waitress gave us. Just be patient we are trying to get the burgers right but we are having a hard time cause itâs a flash something and a double patty smash burger. I was in shock that at no time did anyone try to fix our plonked they were just wanting us to keep paying high prices until they get there problems corrected! Now mind you this is a hamburger they are trying to figure out how to cook! If there is anyone in management that cares about the customers that make there job possible I would love...
Read morePlaced pickup order. Entered at the front door. Advised employee I have a pickup order. Responded speaking quickly with 4 words blah-blah-blah-blah. I replayed what did you say. Quickly again blah-blah-blah-blah. Now, understand, I'm not hard of hearing. I ask what are you saying and she said it a third time(right side of bar). The infamous 4 words. I questioned are you telling me to go to the right side of the bar for my pickup order? "Yes," was the reply. So I go to the right side of the bar and wait and wait. No acknowledgement from anyone that I'm there or for what. Finally, I walk to the other end of the bar and told someone I had a pickup order. Told me to go to the other end of the bar and wait. Advised them that wasn't working very well for me so far. Finally ask what was my name. Told him. Came back and said only had one order for what is a partial name (that's all that comes across) being part of an email address. Told him what I ordered. That was it. Said it would be brought to the other end of bar. Went back to the other end of bar. Waited. Finally, noticed 3 people behind me just standing there with a bag. Ask them if it was mine. Gave me some ambiguous name. Told them not my name but was the order for 2 Classics and fries. Yes. Took it. Now, mind you, this is the only take out order they have. Advised them their pickup process leaves something to be desired. Sorry I tipped because after I got it home there were no pickles on either burger, the tomato was the size of a pingpong ball and lettuce was all but not there....
