The reason this is not rated zero stars is because Google won’t let me post it with zero stars. Last evening we decided to try Greg Norman’s Australian Steakhouse in Barefoot Landing. Quiet Easter, just wife, myself and our daughter. 7:30 reservations. Walking in we were seated immediately and passing by the open kitchen the food on the grill looked great. We were seated and immediately attended to by Marissa (I believe that was her name) who was attentive and working very hard to make our experience top rate. She was EXCELLENT!!! That’s where our experience went downhill. What I can say about the food was that the iceberg wedge was the best part of the meal. We realize that it was Easter Sunday and their menu was limited in an effort to provide quick fresh food. The food was quick. The food was NOT by any means fresh. I had the prime rib. Aged 28 days. I think they cooked it 28 days ago and had it under a heat lamp waiting for someone to order it. Well, maybe not 28 days ago but this prime rib came out quickly, was cold and dry. It was not a nice cooked, juicy piece of meat. I ordered it medium rare and there was no pink in middle and no natural juices to be found. It was a slab of jerky. It looked like they made it hours ahead and kept it in a warming tray and when the order came in sent it right out. The loaded baked potato was the same. Dry and cold. I don’t send food back as a rule and ate what I could bringing what was left home to the dogs. One on the three snubbed it!!!! My wife had the Duck. She was so excited. It came out. Cold and mushy. Again like it was cooked prior and left out. No crispness to the duck at all (apparently a must for duck eaters. I don’t imbibe). It was extra gamey and again wrapped and brought home for the dogs. The dogs had a nice meal. The vegetables were good. Cold but good. My daughter had a lobster tail and crab dip. Said it was good. The bill came. Just under $300 for three people. That included 2 drinks and a glass of wine. If you want to give the steakhouse experience and charge top dollar for it, do it right!! Greg… it sucked!!!! I know you’re all saying we should have complained. It was Easter. Marissa said everyone was there since 10am. It was now closing time. We should have complained but didn’t. Then the opportunity presented itself for a review and here you have it. Again it SUCKED!! WORST meal I’ve ever eaten. I do not mind spending money on good food. We wasted $300 last night. We left Marissa a good tip because it wasn’t her fault. I don’t take food issues out on servers. So $360 we could have spent somewhere else and enjoyed our meal. Lesson learned. Never eating there again and I will recommend NOT wasting your money...
Read moreWe were here for bike week and came to your restaurant for the first time and was amazed at how wonderful everything was! Our server was great then and was a young guy with a man bun. Food and service was just amazing. There was even a couple beside us that was having an anniversary and received a great dessert for their day! This year for our 29th anniversary my husband and I decided to come back there for our anniversary thinking we would get the same wonderful service we received during bike week for our first experience. I have to say this time we were disappointed. The person helping our server (skinny kid with curly hair) was amazing but our server was less than attentive and we thought since it was such a special occasion we would try the very expensive and highly spoke about wagyu. We were not impressed. The prime rib we had during bike week there was amazing so we expected exceptional and did not get that this time. My steak had a lot of gristle and was very heavy on the outer fat. My husbands wagyu was just like any other steaks, we have had better at the Texas Roadhouse and for cheeper. We chose to sit outside this time same as we did last time ( little did we know , we were going to have to brush up on kung fu skills for the flies) so we could see all the boats but the outdoor area needs to be cleaned more frequently as well ( look up at your fans). There was dust and spider webs all over the fans and the ceiling. Quite honestly we thought there would have been more celebration for anniversary like the last time we were there for the other couple. The server just threw the menu for desserts on the table for us. All in all I have to say I am disappointed this time compared to last time. We are here for another week but so bothered by this experience. consistency is everything and I don’t see it here for the price ( nearly $300.00) we paid for such a...
Read moreWe generally enjoy dining at Greg Norman, but our Father's Day experience was quite disappointing. We opted for an early dinner, so the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived. While our drinks and appetizer came out promptly after ordering, the service quickly declined. I requested an extra plate and sweetener for our drinks from our server, but despite passing our table a couple of times to assist others, the server did not acknowledge us. After waiting 10 minutes, I asked an assistant staff member, who provided the items immediately. Our server noticed this and apologized, but it felt like they should have proactively sought help if they were overwhelmed, especially since the restaurant was still relatively quiet. Our entrees took an exceptionally long time to arrive, about 40 minutes after ordering, by which the restaurant was becoming much busier. When my Chilean Sea Bass finally arrived, it was missing the side order of asparagus. Another apology followed, and the asparagus was brought out. Unfortunately, a thick section of the sea bass was cold and appeared undercooked. When our server asked how our meal was, I mentioned the cold fish, which again elicited an apology and an offer to reheat it. My wife's fried fish combo also lacked crispiness. Given another engagement we had that evening, we opted to have our food packed to-go rather than waiting further. While our server was undeniably pleasant and apologetic throughout the evening, their attentiveness and ability to manage the service flow didn't seem to match the caliber expected from a restaurant of Greg Norman's price point. Despite the issues, we still left a 20% tip, largely due to the excellent and prompt assistance we received from the assistant staff member. We hope our next visit will reflect the higher standards we've come to expect from...
