Officially found my Cantonese family restaurant near me. The Salt and Pepper Squid that I ordered was PERFECTLY COOKED. THERE SINGAPORE MEI-FUN WAS YUMMY-LICOUS. SZECHUAN BEEF WAS JUST THE RIGHT OF SPICY.... all these dishes are from the spicy category, just do you know. My friend the waiter has a funny side to him. He is awesome! LOVE LOVE LOVE... LOVE THIS PLACE. The food prepared by the cooks here is AWESOME, BUT....I Really come for the waiter. He's been a good friend of mine since day one when he first served me and my family. His service is unparallel to any other I've met. He has this funny, comedian like, jokester during your stay here. You can be a jokester to him as well and he can take it.He knows who he can joke with and who is a stiff. Any dish you wish for he'll get for you. But he already knows what dishes I like in the winter and what I like in the summer. I can never remember the names of the dishes and I'll explain what the dish I'm looking for and BAM!!! Like that....I get the right dish every time. Even if he got me the wrong dish, I'd enjoy it anyways because EVERYTHING here is great. I can tell him I want to try something new and he'll explain a dish to me and what's in it and that simple... My order is here and delicious. I can't remember his name nor the dishes but he's the only waiter they got there. Funny guy, always with a smile. Never mad...

Best Fried Rice in Northwest Indiana! My wife and I order the Large Combination Fried Rice but instead of shrimp we get Beef and no egg. So Beef, Chicken and BBQ pork. Their meat is phenomenal, they definitely don't cheap out either. The large Fried Rice feeds both of us and we still have leftovers. Their Veggie egg rolls are also top notch! The prices are very reasonable, for the quality of the meats I would expect to pay close to double. For $16 bucks we get a large combination fried rice, veggie egg rolls, and a Quart of steamed rice. Does that even seem possible? Aside from their food, their service is very kind and gentle. A very warm, home like atmosphere.

I would also like to add, that I am angry and aggravated to read other reviews saying the women that answers the phone and is the "cashier" is very rude. This is not at all true and is degrading to her. She is very kind and has good manors and has a good sense of humor. I guess it's easier to judge someone than to nice. People need to stop being mean to her! Just because she is not fluent in English, does not mean she is Rude!!! I wish these ignorant people would ask themselves, "How would I feel if I learned a new Language and people made fun of me". It would obviously hurt.

Anyways, all in all this is our favorite Chinese restaurant and will continue to order regularly. Thankyou for the amazing food and...

I'm a regular at Panda Express in the Highland Shopping Plaza for two years now. My favorites are fried rice and orange chicken.

But one day, my boss gave us Fortune House's orange chicken and combo rice w/ pork, chicken and shrimp.

It was hot from being freshly cooked. After stuffing myself like a turducken, I couldn't stop comparing it to Panda Express.

The TEXTURE and taste of FH's orange chicken and their combo rice exceeded almost every quantifiable and qualitative aspect of both dishes.

Because it is freshly cooked, it will take roughly 15 minutes for a small and large order of either. Meanwhile at Panda Express, I could walk in and out or use the drive thru. But Fortune House doesn't not suffer the malaises of Panda Express.

Going inside of Panda Express exposes an atmosphere of trash and noise that for those with light stomach like me, will dampen your appetite. Their drive thru is frequently jammed and the poor asphalt maintenance makes me anxious.

This is what never happens in Fortune House. Their inmer ambiance stimulates the senses with tasteful Chinese art and culture that never makes me feel like I'm waiting. Your kids will be silent taking it all in.

They have ample parking in the back and their aide of the adjacent Miss Print.

I will recommend Fortune House to anyone who...

I am new to the area and trying out the local Chinese restaurants in my neighborhood. This was my first stop. I purchased A large chicken fried rice, a large sweet-and-sour chicken, and a large teriyaki chicken and spent about $39. The only thing worth eating again would be the chicken fried rice. The sweet & sour chicken was cut into big chicken chunks almost like a chicken tender but not quite - like an oversized chicken nugget. The large box was also not full and only had about 8-9 nuggets. I did love the sweet & sour sauce though and how it comes with the bell peppers. I purchased this dish to split amongst 3 people and it was not nearly enough. The teriyaki chicken was more like teriyaki chicken soup! The chicken came in a bowl full of syrup and you needed to use a slotted spoon to serve or drain it so you can actually eat any. We just tossed it out it wasn’t worth it. I ordered online which was nice that this service was available. I asked for no pork in the shrimp egg roll which was not available and I like how the business called to communicate and then refunded me for the egg rolls. Staff was friendly but overall the food disappointed me and my family so we will not be returning any time soon.

First of all, if you want Chinese take out for less than $10 for a combo plate, you probably are thinking pre covid prices. However if you want your stir fry on a budget, you can have it here. The combos during the lunch hour are around $8 before taxes without drink. For that price, the food is pretty good. Portions are a little smaller than some places but still filling. Flavors are lighter, so if you want a kick, ask. The egg roll is a little soft inside but decent. Above, for a price below what you will pay at EVERY FAST FOOD PLACE NEARBY, you get good fare. ( sorry for the caps, but I read a few reviews and people are just too demanding these days.) Staff is undermanned, so expect a wait. You pay in time, not so much in dollars. No dine in service, but this is common to all chinese take out locally at present (deal with it. Most of you whiners don't understand price point at restaurants.). The staff, however, is very friendly and accommodating and will work with you. You can't ask for more. Seriously. It's chinese stir fry on a budget and it delivers on that promise. Worth considering for a lunch plate.

I’ve been living in this area for 6yrs now and always wanted to try this place and I regret that I did. I ordered a small beef fried rice spicy and a veggie egg roll. The inside texture of the egg roll was mushy, the rice was mushy and the beef was mushy as well. I took 2 bites of the egg roll and a few forks of the rice. My mouth instantly got watery and stomach felt sick indicating I was about to vomit… and that’s exactly what I did. I just threw everything away. $10 down the drain. The food was horrible and I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
