I called a week in advance to order my coworker a 9 inch German chocolate cake. Firstly, Tart's phone must have been left off the hook for hours, as every time I called over the span of a few hours, it went straight to a busy signal. I also left two comments on their Instagram letting them know this, while both comments ended up getting deleted. I finally got through and placed my order. I go to pick up the cake and I'm handed a small box with a 6 inch cake inside, looking nothing like the one I had ordered. After two girls behind the counter were totally confused by this, I was reimbursed and allowed to take the cake that was screwed up anyways. I was also told that their owner or manager, Ash, would be calling me to discuss this matter. Never got that call. So, my coworker who I had ordered the cake for, wrote a Facebook message to Tart, explaining she was bummed out about this. We planned on feeding our office of 11 and celebrating her birthday. Her message was seen, yet she never received a response. And now, as I write this review, I've dialed Tart's number multiple times looking for Ash, only for the phone to be left off the hook AGAIN.
I'm pretty disappointed in the lack of customer service we were shown. Goodbye Tart.
EDIT: Ash ended up calling me and is super sweet and accommodating! Upping the stars -...
Read moreFor years I bragged that Tart Bakery in Northampton had the best chocolate and almond croissants in the world. This was not entirely empty braggadocio having sampled the wares of bakeries in France, Italy, and Quebec, among other locales. I was therefore shocked and disappointed recently when I tried both croissants after a recent 2 month hiatus. The fact that the croissants looked different was not the issue. The newly formulated croissants were ordinary and inferior; similar to a product you’d buy in a supermarket. They were no longer light, flakey and buttery. Instead, they were heavy and chewy. Most disappointing was the chocolate croissant. Rather than being filled with high quality chunks of chocolate, the croissant was sliced open and schmeared with a chocolate spread not dissimilar to Nutella. I am not the only person who’s (negatively) commented on these changes. My hope is that the owners take heed and change back to the recipes they’ve been using for years, for the sake of their devotees and before their business goes...
