Fun little spot with a tight menu with several great options. But food execution was lacking but a few tweaks here and there and it would be great!
Pollo Adobo al Carbon came on a sizzling plate and looked great! As is normally the case the chicken breast was a touch dry and the thigh and drumstick were both juicy. Menu said it came with a side of chimchurri sauce but it wasn't on the plate. The chicken definitely needed come kind of sauce. Came with 3 corn tortillas but when eating half a chicken, it should come with 5-6. Mexican beans were too wet for my liking and beans were ok.
Key Lim pie was good but came with more cool whip than pie. Let the pie be the star...even half the whipped cream would have been more...
Read moreThe moment I saw this place opened I thought it had something about it that it was going to be good, I just tried a couple of things since I just stopped for drinks, the pork pastor taco was very fresh and good, flavor was as expected for pacific side mexican restaurant, the flan was awesome! I would say one of the best I have had in Chicago area. On the down side I would say I had the Oaxacan old fashioned and it did not meet my expectations, it was too watery and was missing flavor, the Horchata dreams drink was good. The salsa its always very important and this place has great creamy avocado salsa. I will come back for sure to try more food/drinks and adjust my rating...
Read moreI've been twice since they opened and this is easily the best taco/casual Mexican restaurant in the area. Tacos are flavorful, well constructed, and a great value for the money.
The steak and Baja fish tacos are outstanding as is the off-the-cob street corn. The shrimp, short rib, and carnitas tacos are all excellent
My only very minor complaint is that the tacos are slightly overstuffed, making them hard to eat. Two is enough for a meal, but I'd prefer taking a dollar off and having to order three.
Service is very good for a new restaurant — none of the typical new restaurant issues.
Tip: order at the counter for takeout. A server will take your order...
