Update 11/14/2017 I was trying very hard to move on from the horrible experience i encountered at this establishment. However, after numerous harassment's to my friend, I decided to write this follow-up for everybody to show what the owner is really like. My friend and I share a different opinion about this restaurant, and I really hate to do this to him, but i think people need to hear about this. I wrote an honest review of exactly what happened to me there, and the owner had audacity to confront my friend about my review. Not once, not twice but every time that he visits this place. Also every bad review that he receives, he blames it on me, and not on horrible business that he is running and his attitude toward customers. I only have one account on Yelp, Facebook, Trip advisor, google, and have only written 1 time on each website, about my encounter. Now, every time my friend visits this so called restaurant, owner is bluntly blaming me for every mistake and bad review that he has done to ALL the customers and putting one of his best and most loyal customers in a very uncomfortable situation. I strongly encourage everybody to avoid visiting this restaurant for not only horrible inconsistent service, but for poor business etiquette and harassment that you will receive if you dare to write a negative review about this place.
I am writing this with great sadness. I dined here a few times and really enjoyed the food. However, recent event changed my opinion of this place forever. Few days ago, I called in for a takeout and was shocked when the owner refused to take a large order.($500+). He told me that he will be TOO busy with customers who dine-in, to even consider fulfilling my order. Very sad that such establishment would not have any common sense(both business and personal) to refuse a takeout guaranteed prepaid order. Regretfully, myself and ALL of my family will not step another foot...
Read moreI'm just finishing my first order of sushi from Fujiyama. I got the Double Spicy roll as a few people had suggested, thinking it was going to be similar to a spicy tuna roll or 911 roll, or something of that nature. It has eel and tempura inside, wrapped with shrimp and topped with fish eggs and spicy mayo and is quite dry and bland. However, the other roll I purchased is called Fujiyama roll and it is quite tasty. It's a mom and pop type place, quite small, and they do not do carry out orders over the phone. The waitress, who I believe was the Irene that others have mentioned, was extremely nice and treated me like one of her own. My guess would be that I ordered the wrong rolls, and I will definitely be back to experiment with some of their other items, both sushi and non sushi, to get a better idea of what they have to offer. The prices are fairly modest in comparison with other sushi joints. Looking forward to going back, getting to know Irene, and seeing what the pro's order on a regular basis so I can become Fujiyama's...
Read moreAll in all, I was pleasantly surprised by Fujiyama. The sushi rolls proved a much better choice than the tonkatsu, and that contributed most to the pleasant surprise. Most other sushi in the neighborhood simply nauseates.
I found the tonkatsu flavorful and well prepared. It was not exactly like the other preparations I had at other places. They used a darker meat cut and that added flavor but at the expense of texture I've come to expect from tonkatsu.
If it wasn't such a hot day, I would have gone for one of the udon soups -- next time!
Some people complained about service in the reviews here, but I found no evidence to support that. Both servers were attentive, polite, and prompt.
Aside from us, the place was pretty much packed (lunch) with regulars. It seemed like everyone was on first-name bases and the proprietors knew what the regulars wanted immediately and often even without words. I think that aspect impressed me...
