I usually like B&Ls. Unfortunately the review I'm about to give doesn't reflect that. And to be fair, I would have given today’s experience a 1 star if it weren't for the fact that they usually do better than this. I ordered a taco pizza, a deluxe gyro (comes with gyro, fries, and salad), a separate order of fries, extra tzatziki, ranch sauce, and pita bread. Mostly, I was upset about the taco pizza, which I called the restaurant about. Now I'm upset about how I as treated during my call.
The situation: Taco pizza was missing the taco seasoning. And, maybe because of the missing seasoning, it tasted like someone accidentally used spaghetti sauce instead of pizza sauce. Or, maybe someone did use spaghetti sauce. The lettuce and tomatoes were cooked under the cheese, instead of served on top, which made the lettuce and tomatoes all wilted and gross. Between the missing taco seasoning and the toppings that should have been raw and fresh, but weren't, it was terrible. I called. I asked to about the recipe. Maybe it had changed. Maybe I got exactly what I was supposed to get but I didn't like it. No... It should have had taco seasoning. No, they should have used pizza sauce, not spaghetti sauce. Yes, I asked for sour cream and they were out and no one thought to call and let me know. I didn't even ask about the lettuce and tomato because I was told, “we've been doing it this way since we opened, and that's been 22 years.” The manager would not accept/admit that something might have been incorrect. She told me to look at the edges of the pizza crust to “see” the taco seasoning. I was looking right at it, and it was not there. Never mind that I know what taco seasoning tastes like and there wasn't any, but no, there were no visual indicators of the seasoning either. I offered to bring the pizza to the restaurant and show her that there were no signs of seasoning, and show her that I had not eaten the pizza because it was that bad. She said, “no, there's no point, we don't take pizzas back.” Did she think I was trying to return it like someone might return a shirt they didn't like? I was not trying to take advantage of the restaurant, I was upset that I could not eat the pizza. I wanted the pizza I ordered, not the one that was delivered. I had to say directly (because she did not ask), “is there anything you are able to do to fix this?” She replied with, “what would you like me to do?” I said, “I don't know, give me my $20 back, give me a free pizza, something.” She replied (paraphrasing this part), “we can only do something today, we don't want to take care of issues from today on a different day.” So, I said, “fine, a refund will work.” To which she said, “we can make you another pizza.” Ugh. Why ask me what I want if you aren't going to do it? So, I ended up having a different pizza made. But seriously, why did she need to make a bad situation worse? I had ordered an extra pita bread & and extra tzatziki sauce to go with the greek salad. It was was my lunch for the next day. I was planning to put the lettuce, tomato, onion and feta (the salad) in the pita bread with tzatziki. However, the extra piece of pita bread was added to the deluxe gyro order. Hence, my roommate ate it not knowing why there was extra pita bread and extra tzatziki with their gyro order. I realize this is a minor issue, but when combined with the pizza fiasco, it is just one more thing they messed up.
The whole experience was awful. I hope your experience is better than mine. Thankfully, the fries were good because that's what I ended up...
Read moreWe always request pie cut that is what my dad likes and is easy for him to pick up and eat and hold the toppings on for him
Every time we order on fridays they mess up the order cut it in squares Put peppers in the pizza even thow we request in the side 4 times during the call
I called back and asked for them to do something about them messing up and cutting it squared and the lady That took the order for us was Naomi at 2/1/2019. At 5:38pm
The ticket states xl 1 topping pizza artichoke, pepperoni, sausage , tomato and then it states pie cut! The total amount was $27.34
Now I called them back around 6 pm when I got the pizza they cut it wrong again so that’s why I called when I called I explained the situation and the lady in the phone said they can’t guarantee it because they are busy ! The manger or someone in the background said well don’t order here any more ! I have never bin treated this way in a food establishment I thought when a customer request something and your paying good money for it it should be the way you requested !
But they state they can’t guarantee their food quality when they are busy !
I will be contacting the owner if I am able to ! And report the lady and the manager on duty during the time I placed the order and then called back !
Would I recommend this place I mean it’s decent pizza and I like the crust but if they are going to treat customers and give customers not what they order then I would not recommend these guys for your pizza ! Or any other kind of food specially if they are busy because they can’t guarantee the quality of the food as she stated...
Read moreNorthfield people, please stop supporting B+L. We have had SO MANY issues with them over the years - incorrect orders, orders that took over two hours to be delivered, etc. Then, tonight, we ordered a pizza. 20 minutes past the delivery time, (so 80 minutes later) it still wasn’t here. We called to see what had happened. They said we’d typed the address wrong. We said, well wouldn’t you have called then? They said they did, but we have no record of a missed call or voicemail on my husband’s phone, he is not on do not disturb, and he has received multiple voicemails this week. Plus, we ordered through our account online, which has our information saved - they’ve delivered to us before and clearly didn’t bother to look at past deliveries either, nor did they attempt to contact us through the email address we’d provided.
They said the pizza was there and they’d bring it over. I said, if it’s been sitting there for an hour, we’d rather not have it, and could we please get a refund. I spoke to both the manager and the owner. Both were rude, said it was my own problem, continued to lie about calling us, and then finally hung up on me. There was zero apology, not even a tacit attempt. They were defensive, accusatory, and consistently talked over me without even trying to hear me out. And this on top of, as I’ve said, several instances of mistakes over the years.
We always try to support local businesses. But I get really angry when people who have a captive audience exploit that to enforce poor business practices. Please consider ordering your pizza from other Northfield places...
