Jasmine Asian Bistro — Restaurant in Northfield

This is a new storefront Chinese restaurant in a location where different restaurants have come and gone.

This business recently opened and everything inside is fresh, clean and new.

We were the only customers late on a Saturday afternoon and the dining room was pleasant and quiet. We were pleased to find that the background music was tasteful and subdued, unlike many other restaurants.

The atmosphere is casual.

We found the staff friendly, and eager to serve us, however we experienced some difficulty communicating with our server.

We miscommunicated about whether the Sizzling Rice soup served one or two. We understood him to indicate the item is intended to serve only one person and ordered one for each of us.

When our orders were brought to the table we discovered that each large bowl of soup would be very generous for two people and sufficient for three or four.

Furthermore, there was no rice with the soup. Apparently, our server was not familiar with the menu item.

After a little more communication difficulty he took away the extra bowl of soup and returned with a bowl of rice. The rice wasn't very hot and did not sizzle when added to the already cooling soup.

And the server apparently didn't understand that in our culture a bowl of soup intended to serve two is customarialy served with two additional smaller bowls and spoons from which each person eats the soup. He apparently expected both of us to eat from one common bowl. We eventually understood each other and he politely brought two appropriate soup bowls

Other than our disappointing experience with the soup, the rest of the meal was mostly satisfactory.

Our entrees, Sesame Chicken and Triple Delight were very generous portions of adequate quality. But the server didn't understand that we intended to share the entrees and didn't understand our request for separate plates from which each of us would eat. We eventually divided the entrees on the serving platters and each ate our meals directly from the platters.

Our server was attentive but not intrusive. He kept our drinks full and when we finished our meal he promptly brought the check and processed payment.

This restaurant is located in a facility with other businesses and is somewhat inconspicuous and not easily seen from the nearby roadways.

There is close free parking and a few spaces reserved for handicapped people. The facility appears to be completely accessable. When the adjacent businesses are open, there may be some congestion in the parking lot.

The dining room features flexible table arrangements in addition to booths and can accommodate groups.

Due to difficulty communicating we were unable to determine their reservation and call ahead seating policies.

Cash and credit cards are accepted. We were unable to determine if debit cards are also accepted.

I usually don't give reviews no matter how bad the place is. We have been to this place several times and every single time they make us wait so long for take out orders and this time we placed a delivery after confirming on the call if they are fine delivering to our house. We ordered 3 cumin fish with fried rice and we got 3 cumin beef instead. When I called the restaurant they said pl keep the beef aside we are going to deliver fish for you. We requested to deliver fried rice with fish and after another 40 mins we get fish with white rice charging extra $3 bucks for fish. We called them and said 'Hey, We ordered fried rice but we received white rice instead. They kept arguing saying we delivered fried rice not white rice and we cannot deliver this time as tip is also very less. If you want don't come to the restaurant/order food from us next time. First a fol, We are a big fan of their cumin fish. We got food from this place atleast 30 to 50 times till date even though they make us wait so long for take out orders. We did not expect this kind of behavior from them. They have already charged 3*$12.99 first time when they delivered beef even though beef is $11.99 and they say we charged extra $3 because fish is $12.99???? (attaching the screenshot of the bills) Mistakes happen and that's understandable but customer service is important while running a business. Veryyyyy baddd dd servicceeee. Very pleasantly surprised! 👍❤ I don't know how I had never been here but it is fantastic.

Even though they were short staffed for the number of patrons coming in and it was not peak time yet. The two ladies serving and taking orders were flying, my order was promptly taken and my food came out immediately and I noticed the same situation with other tables.

The place is fresh, modern and comfortable. I sat at a booth but next time I will choose a table. Booths are weird as you notice the person seated behind you. Seems the backs are thin or the seats are too connected or something. But there are plenty of tables. I foresee this place will be packed soon.

The value is great! The flavors are those of a unique family restaurant but the service and experience are flawless.

Great location and easy plaza parking. Menu is vast from what you can see in my pictures, Japanese and Chinese entrées. I cannot wait to be back and try other...
