Family Palace — Restaurant in Norwood Park Township

This place was recommended to us by a friend, although we always wondered what is it was like several times when on our way to other destinations on North Harlem.

On all accounts, to me any way, this looked like your typical diner, with typical diner items. I personally judge a diner on its breakfast items, so I ordered the Eggs Benedict. I was dining with my husband and the place was fairly busy for 11am. When I received my order, along with my husband's Breakfast, it was beautiful, however when I broke into my Hollandaise covered yolks, it was cooked harder than I should, the yolks didn't run out in a slow flow of eggy goodness. I I formed the waiter, and he took it back and 2-minutes later, I received my order and the yolks we're beautiful. It was served with a slice of orange and a really thick sliced of ham. I say ham because They wasn't sure it was Canadian Bacon as it was covered in sauce. The star was that hollandaise; it was smooth not grainy and with a squeeze of orange juice from that slice, even better. The sauce was so good I asked for a side dish of it because I wanted my eggs drowned in it. The hollandaise was also good on my extra crispy hash browns.

Like most diners, when we were done and it was time to pay, you take your bill to the cashier to pay. Just be warned, the parking is a little hectic, but...

Family Palace is a diner that we enjoy going to, especially with a big group. They serve alcohol, which is always awesome. I am a big fan of their Bloody Mary on a Sunday morning. They also have a huge dining area, and I don't think we have ever had to wait more than 15 minutes for a table. I've had a few of their different breakfast and lunch options and I've never been disappointed. Their hash browns are cut scalloped style and some of my favorites, especially if you add some grilled onions and peppers. They are so good, I get them no matter what meal of the day I am eating. The waitstaff have always been incredibly nice. We went recently for breakfast for my daughter's birthday, and they brought out some cake and even sang her Happy Birthday! I've been back a few times, and will be back again soon. They take cash & card. Nice sized parking lot...

I love family Palace. The food is always fresh, delicious and very generous portions. The breakfast food is great but I love love love the liver and onions. I order it often. The Mgr recommended the meatloaf one day and wow! It was so good. I've been telling my family and friends about this restaurant since November when I moved to the area. Once we were able to dine in restaurants again, my friends met for a birthday dinner and everyone loved it as well. We used to go to a place in Wisconsin for liver and onions but this place is even better. My family love the breakfast and lunch. The portion size is generous so we had leftovers.. yummy. I must also mention the salads are so fresh, crispy. You must save room for dessert.. They also have the best chocolate cake and cheesecake. Family Palace is now one of my favorite...
