My friends and I came into Buddy’s Pizza yesterday (1/2/2020) for one of their birthdays. We came in around 7:30 pm and left at around 9:15 pm. The food at Buddy’s was amazing, I’ve eaten at multiple locations and I’ve never been disappointed with the food. However, the wait staff at this Buddy’s was unbelievably rude. Specifically the lady that waited on us. She was short, pale, had reddish brown hair, we didn’t catch a name. At first she started out okay, she brought us whatever we asked for. However, towards the end the rudeness really began to pop out. For instance, my friend had brought in cheesecake for her birthday. We asked if we could have our table cleaned or if we could move to the table behind us since it was already cleaned. She said no but told us she could have someone clean our table, which was fine. However, it took us asking multiple times for someone to be sent out to clean our table. Also, when we spoke to another waiter he was going to allow us to just move tables when she interrupted him and said “no, don’t let them”. I’m not sure if it’s Buddy’s policy, which is fine, but her tone was just so rude. The food was all piled up into the middle of the table and no one had been sent to come clean it. It’s disgusting and for obvious reasons I didn’t want to eat my cheesecake on it. Another thing she did was when she brought out the forks for our cheesecake, another one of her coworkers had brought out the rolled silverware and she rolled her eyes and sent him away. I’m sorry do we not deserve the normal silverware like all of the other customers? Unbelievable. Finally, my friend got some frosting on his jacket so he went to another table and got the rolled silverware, because again, we had no napkins. She shot him the dirtiest look I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I hate to accuse people of being racist, but my party was very visibly Muslim. It would not surprise me if she was treating us like second class for this reason. Had the gratuity not been included in the bill, we would not have tipped her 18% because frankly she didn’t deserve it. Her coworkers were much more deserving as they were way more pleasant than her.
Update: The manager reached out to me & was very nice & concerned about what had happened. He did compensate for the meal & apologized. Overall, I am satisfied with management’s handling of this situation. I decided to give this location 4 stars (I had originally put 2). I would...
Read moreI thought for the most part the food was pretty good. I really liked their creamy garlic dressing on their house salad. Pizza tasted pretty good but the two toppings I added seemed sparse. I was also hoping the buddy bread would have a little more flavor. Also it seems like a theme in restaurants around here but I don’t understand why they charge for club soda. It should at least be less than a soda since there is no flavor in it, just bubbles from the CO2 (which I guess they do pay for).
Anyway, now for the service. First of all I felt like our server was avoiding our table for some reason. I did make requests but I tried to do it all at once so he would not have to keep going back. Well he kept having to go back anyway because he forgot things. Also we sat in a booth by the made in Detroit sign, and across the room in the half booths, two girls were sitting there. I’m guessing they worked there because every employee sat and talked to them instead of attending to their job duties. However, my server in particular sat right on the tabletop next to them. He went over 3 or 4 times and did this. Really?? Do you sit on your dining room table at home and then eat on it? And then he was eating their food in front of us. Honestly he just seemed really dirty. Not attentive. Didn’t ever ask how our food was.
We also weren’t set with silverware and realized this when the food came. Since I knew our server was going to take forever to get back to our table, I went up to the host stand to get silverware. The host had to look in several baskets in the front and didn’t find any so she went to the back and got some. I think they need to be a little more prepared, especially since they did not seem that busy. But it really looked like it was everyone’s first job there and they all wanted to be somewhere else. At least put on a happy server face for a few hours in front of the guests. It...
Read moreI was in town visiting my family and we decided or order take out pizza from here. I have celiac disease and it is very important to my health and well-being that I eat gluten free. I have had Buddy's gluten free pizza in the past at another location, so I thought this would be a good place for me to eat. When the order was placed, we asked for my pizza to be gluten free and emphasized the serious importance that the order be made completely gluten free. We were reassured that it would be. We pick up our pizza and I enjoyed a few slices of mine. I started to feel off, and my mom was concerned. She called the restaurant to confirm that everything was right with our order. At this time, the staff member that she spoke to admitted that they had accidently gotten the order wrong and given a regular personal pizza (NOT gluten free). This was devastating as I had already consumed the pizza. My mom let the staff member know how upset she was and how serious the situation was, he apologized and offered that we could come pick up a new pizza. At this point, eating more pizza was obviously the last thing on my mind. I was in the bathroom sick for hours. It ruined my weekend and my visit with my family. It was also extremely emotional because of the set back it was causing for me physically. I just couldn't believe that this really happened to me. Please be careful dining here if you have a severe allergy or medical dietary restriction. I felt they didn't understand how serious it was and brushed us off. I have not eaten here since and I don't know that I will be able to bring myself to trust doing so in the future. It's sad because they do have good pizza and I like to support Michigan businesses. But this was a totally horrible experience that I wouldn't...
