I recently visited this establishment with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was marred by the owner's attitude and subpar food quality. The owner's behavior was unprofessional and dismissive, exhibiting a "know-it-all" mentality that made it clear he was not open to feedback or criticism.
The food, specifically the Cuban sandwich, lacked authenticity and flavor, with low-quality meat being a major letdown. It's disappointing to see a business with such potential struggling due to the owner's unwillingness to listen to customer feedback and make necessary changes.
In contrast, other local businesses offer superior quality and flavor at more affordable prices, with owners who are humble and dedicated to providing excellent customer service. Until the owner takes customer feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements, I would recommend exploring other options.
Recommendations:
· Improve food quality, particularly the Cuban sandwich · Source higher-quality meat · Develop a more humble and open-minded approach to customer feedback · Consider pricing adjustments to remain competitive
By addressing these issues, the cafe can potentially turn things around and provide a better experience for customers. UPDATED: Wow, thanks for taking the time to respond! Your unwavering denial is truly inspiring. It's quite amusing how you've managed to completely miss the point of my review. But hey, who needs constructive criticism when you can just play the blame game, right? Let's address your points: 1 Oh, pardon my taste buds if they didn't align with your impeccable standards of meat quality. Clearly, my palate must have been hallucinating. 2 My bad for using the word "struggling." I must have forgotten that even mentioning a minor hiccup in a restaurant's performance would hurt your ego tremendously.
As for my background, I appreciate your curiosity. No, I'm not opening a Cuban restaurant, nor am I a consultant. Just a regular customer who knows the difference between a good dining experience and a disappointing one. If you ever decide to step down from your high horse and entertain the possibility that your restaurant might have room for improvement, feel free to let me know. Until then, I'll just sit back and marvel at your impressive display of...
Read moreI ordered from here a few days ago. I got tostones, a beef empanada, a chorizo empanada, mojo fries, arroz con leche, and a cubita cold brew.
The fries were over-salted. Way way too much salt to be putting on fries. It needs to be dialed back. The arroz con leche was watery and seemed to use uncooked rice—just nasty. I don’t know if they gave me weeks old arroz con leche or what, but it was disgusting. The cubita cold brew had ABSOLUTELY NO SUGAR, which I suppose varies from place to place. And I was at work, so I had no sugar of my own to fix it. The only good parts of the meal were the empanadas and tostones. This is the second time I ordered and the first experience was bad too. The Cubano sandwich was bad and salty as well. Use less salt.
Update: food was ordered under the name Ope through Grubhub, not my full name, which may be why you can’t find the order in your records. I may eventually take you up on the free meal offer, but I genuinely just want you guys to use less salt and make sure you’re not selling people stale arroz con leche. If the fries are made in-house, use about half the seasoning you currently use and you’ll probably be okay. If the arroz con leche is made in-house, make sure it’s no more than a couple of days old. If both are bought pre-made and resold, you should find a new vendor. I mean no insult by this review and you are correct—it was my first review, but that should tell you that my experience was so bad I felt compelled to come and tell you why. I believe the issues I complained about can be easily remedied and that you have the potential to be an amazing restaurant if you choose to listen. Thanks...
Read moreThis is one easily one of my favorite places in Nutley. Also, my go-to when I don’t know what I want to eat.
Let me get this out of they way. The portions aren’t huge, yes. Honestly, this is the main reason I continue to come here. I’m in my “eat less but eat actual good food” era. Also, they’re not so small you’re going to leave hungry, so don’t think that either. I think people are comparing Cubita with old school Cuban cafeteria spots which you cannot do. You’re not going to find these ridiculous mountains of servings. But the quality of the food and portion size are simply incomparable. The taste is classic but with a new school twist and I’m here for it.
Now on to the food.
Empanadas are fire. Compact and stuffed with deliciousness. My favorite have been the oxtail, maduro with cheese and chorizo egg and cheese. Their media noche with the sweet bread is so good. The Cuban is also up there but I prefer the media noche. Also have had their picadillo and man oh man. This brings on the childhood nostalgia. The ground beef is seasoned just right (no skipping the salt and seasoning here). Beans are great too.
Coffee is 10/10. Anything here is a win. Cafe bon bon, cortadito, Cubita cold brew,...
