Since I was young, Mountain Magic Shave Ice has always been my go-to spot for shave ice🍧 I miss the many conversations I had with aunty, the original owner, about how she loved her job, she enjoyed making fresh, homemade mochi balls every day and getting to talk with everyone she met💕 The shave ice stand offers a variety of flavors ranging from tigers blood to blue vanilla🌊 They also offer add-ons, such as mochi balls, lihing mui powder, condense milk and icecream!🍦You can mix-and-match 3 syrups to create many flavorful combinations🤙🏾 I do want to note that ever since aunty left years ago, I’ve noticed that the shave ice and customer service tend to vary on quality, depending on who is working the stand. Sometimes you may be met with friendly workers, while others, not so much. Some days the shave ice they give will be in large amounts like they used to do, other days it will be smaller with less toppings. The mochi balls have also shrank throughout the years. The texture of the shave ice has also changed, as it is more of a slushy-soft ice rather than the typical shave ice, crunchy-soft texture it used to be. There is more syrup than there is ice. (See attached photos. The single shave ice photo was my most recent visit in 2024 and the two shave ice photo was back in 2017. Both orders were the same size: keiki. I miss the flower shaped bowls) Overall, although this spot has visibly changed over the years and aunty does not run the booth anymore, it still holds the same nostalgic memories and tastes as the younger generation helps to keep the stand alive for many more visitors to enjoy✨

✨ Mountain Magic Shave Ice Hawaii (Waikele) ✨ Sooo ONOLICIOUS!! Much love & mahalos to Braddahs Josh & Ethan and Auntie Mia for blessing us with the refreshing keiki Rainbow orders and my forever go-to: Haupia with mochi bites + lava kine condensed milk. 🤤 My daughter was all smiles with the surprise tote gift 🎁 — the sweetest touch after a long day shopping at Aloha Stadium (only 10–15 min drive, totally worth it!). This has been our family tradition for 16 years 🙌 and for real, they’re #1 in Hawai‘i. Don’t sleep on this spot!! Bonus: it’s right next to fiyah grindz and plenty shops with slammin’ deals. Add this to your must-visit list when you’re on da island!! 🌺🍧 CHEHUUU!!

I tried Mtn Magic because I saw that they were rated #1 shave ice on Ohau. I didn't know about it but we would go to the Leonard's truck for malasadas just next door for years. I would rate the shave ice amongst my top 4 with Shimazu, Ululani & Waiola. Although it is a shack and doesn't have a place to sit. The price is similar as well as the amount and the fineness of the ice as the other 3 places. Definitely the best in mid Oahu. We stay near Kapolei so we will definitely be back.
