The Corner Pub and Grill — Restaurant in O’Fallon

I've been here three times. First and foremost the food and service is great!!!!! The employees are wonderful. The motivation for going to the Corner Pub is the outdoor experience. I'm not completely comfortable sitting indoors during these times. The indoor bar is open the outdoor bar is closed. The reason for this was given as..... social distancing?? If they were truly concerned about social distancing it seems the outdoor would be open to reduce the spread of covid-19. Instead the indoor bar is packed with people on top of each other. We asked if we can please sit outside and we're told that management does not want people outside. We even offered to order our drinks inside and bring them outside. We also asked if we could order food inside and bring it outside. This is extremely backwards. Seems as though they can control the environment outside by table placement and bar just the same as inside. This place has so much potential and O'Fallon has been awaiting the opening for quite some time. It was really disheartening to see how this is being handled. My wife and I went there this past Friday night. She has celiac and we have enjoyed their gluten free options because there’s several things that she can never get at other restaurants. It took forever for the waiter to take our drink order. We ordered the gluten free onion rings which were good, had good seasoning, only complaint was the breading seemed to come off on several of the onion rings. My wife ordered the gluten free chicken tenders and I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with tater tots. Both of our chicken was overcooked and dry. My tots were also overcooked and dry. My wife had the coleslaw as a side and it was also on my sandwich and we thought it was pretty bland. Our waiter never checked on us to see how our food was so we just ate our dry chicken. They give you a decent amount of tenders but we didn’t take any home for leftovers because they weren’t worth reheating. We’ve been here a couple times in the past and didn’t have a bad experience. This place will be amazing once all the kinks are worked out.The way they are doing a social distancing thing is wrong in my opinion. I have been there a of couple of times and believe me it's packed and great for ofallon but when you go there and the outdoor patio is empty because if rain I get that but you can't even stand outside on the patio when everyone is crammed indoors make you think what's going on. We went Friday and stood on the patio that was empty and a server told us we could not stand outside because of social distancing??? That made no sense since everyone was standing over each other indoors(they eventually served us outside and understood our options) we talked to the manager and an assistant and they made little sense the only thing I understood was the gathering of a lot of people outside but you can control that but putting everyone inside made no sense because it was packed.
