Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Oak Harbor

Went in for my usual that I get / have gotten for Years... Coffee Nudge / French Onion soup and 2 bread sticks. A rude drinker at the bar interjected himself ( cross old man ) , into my conversation with person across the bar...normally this does not occur there. The rude man who is Older than I am ( I am 63 and Veteran ) ...would not leave me alone as I asked him to stop injecting directly his aggressive verbiage...at me. Honestly I just wanted to have my soup I love and relax...and I ordered just coffee black , so no ... I was not intoxicated. This older ( 74 years ) man was nursing his second tall beer and trolling his phone until he decided to bully another person... The bar tender bearded younger fellow...came out ; I asked the bar tender to let the other customer know I was not desiring his " opinions " vulgar and sexual ...about a former president..TRUMP The man is obviously a " Hater , Vulgar , Abusive " and probably DRUNK. What was the end of this unfortunate attempt at my soup : Manager came out , I told the manager I was not there to be shouted at or insulted... What did manager do ??? Nothing... Nothing and Nothing. I told Manager..closely as he was listening to me.. I was leaving ...there was no point in an agitated experience whilst trying to have a wonderful bowl of soup.

No one reached out to me; the Bartender .. I later called Manager we spoke briefly .. He apologized after what I had gone through .... But did not offer any recompense for my being insulted and shamed...simply because ... I am not a BIDEN ...man. I shook hands as I left with the gentleman and his wife ... I had been speaking with and they were nice folks.

The summation: GET WOKE GO BROKE ... I will not Ever spend 60.00 on soup , salad , Coffee nudges , or a cup of coffee ...there again.. You are fine...if You are of a " certain mind " ...otherwise : AVOID this place. Former US ARMY ...1982 ... Reagan Era. Thank you for reading...

Food at this Oak Harbor Applebee’s is absolutely terrible. We ate here back in 2009 and food was not good then. Now back in the area and decided to see if things changed.

First revisit in late 2012 was horrible. Service was poor, steak was tough and not cooked correctly and some food was warm while others were cool.

Couple months ago we decided to try it again but only during happy hour. Appetizers were good but nothing special except for the sliders which were excellent. Service again was poor and not the friendliest.

Third and final visit was tonight. Since appetizers were good last time we decided to just stick with what was good. Problem is, they were not as good as last time except for the sliders where were still great. We had Blue Cheese dressing with our boneless buffalo wings and the dressing was greasy and besides the couple chunks of blue cheese, looked like butter and wouldn’t stick to the wings. We asked for another side of blue cheese and the new one looked better, but still oily on the sides and bottom and after mixing it up looked exactly the same as first. We asked the waitress if that was normal and she had the manager come talk to us. Manager admitted to knowing there was an issue with the blue cheese dressing, but they still served it!! And then she didn’t even offer to do anything other than give us ranch dressing. By that time we only had two wings left so what was the point… Then there was the spinach and artichoke dip. It tasted…ok… was watery and until it was stirred up, it looked like it had been sitting for a while. Only thing good other than the sliders was our waitress. She was one of the best we had in a while. Too bad she works for that excuse for a restaurant.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO EAT AT THIS APPLEBEES! It has been terrible since the day it opened in Oak Harbor! Absolutely no quality control...

Best Restaurant Chain in North America....really too bad there aren't any in British Columbia, Canada. We eat dinner at Applebee's pretty much EVERY night on our trips to Washington and Oregon. With such an amazingly large number of items to choose from on the menu, you can go to the same restaurant chain for 7 days, and never, ever eat a similar meal ! The buildings are recognizable from a distance, the decor is always impeccable (as are the Restrooms ! ), and the quality is absolutely consistent, from city to city. [ except, that THIS particular Applebee's made the absolute BEST Riblets we have had in the last 10 years, no lie....more meat on them thar ribs than any other Applebees in the West, ... really. ]

The only complaint ( pertaining to ALL Applebees ) is that the SERVer is not the same as the WAITer, & does not know half of what the original order-taker heard from the customer.

Oh, and one other thing...[ 3rd time we have complained to the Managers ] when ordering the 2-for-$20 special, we have had time to eat at MOST 2 tortilla chips with the Artichoke Dip...and the hot STEAKS are appearing at our table. Do we give up & totally waste the appetizer, or allow the steaks to get cold, while we enjoy the 1st half of the order ?!! ....they keep explaining that the timing is off in the...
