The Good: I've been coming to this place since it opened, as it is a great hangout spot (just don't get too familiar with the owner: see below). The owner is a certified sommelier, and thus the selection of wines is excellent. The Tipsy Jellyfish is best described as "refined yet unpretentious," and the atmosphere is cozy and "living-room-esque."
The Bad: The owner, Kathryn, in true small-town fashion, talks about the patrons to the other patrons. I've listened to her grumble and complain about: the Navy wives that come in large groups, order one glass of wine each, and then drink water for the next couple hours; the patrons that are too stupid to figure out how to use the water machine she's brought in so she doesn't have to refill their water glasses; other regulars who come in right before closing and keep them open two extra hours without ordering much; who happened to be really obviously drunk last night; and who exhibited any untoward, odd, or gossip-worthy behavior.
Kathryn lacks boundaries regarding what and what not to pass on to patrons. It's unprofessional, and there are plenty of other fine establishments to hang out at where this isn't an issue, which is where I'll be hanging out from now on. Cafe Rustica is a good choice. Full bar, greater and more hearty food choices, and also cozy, just a block away. However, if you're just in for an occasional drink and don't get too chummy, none of the above will likely affect you, and you'll...

So the first time going there I had a bad experience. Because the husband overcharged me the drinks. My bill came to about $30. I stated to him; I only got two Coors Lights. I questioned how much the beers were and he said $7 each. I responded with what "why is my total $30?"The husband said "oh you were here earlier and you had two beers." I said "yeah and I paid for those two beers, 2 hours ago when I was here, earlier. I just came into the establishment have two more beers, so why is my bill $30?" He said "Oh, I thought you were in the back room the whole time." I was thinking in that moment to myself, "you really think I'm in the back room with no beers sitting there for 2 hours, come on man." I let that one go. I gave the Tipsy Jellyfish benefit of the doubt. So, I went there on a different day and time. I shouldn't have. I ordered a Coors Light that's $7. I had one shot of Fireball for $5. Then, I asked for a Jack Daniels. Didn't know the price . Ask for my bill she told me 29.64 I said wait, I had one beer and two shots . Then I ask for recipe and my bill came down to 20$ and a 4$ tax , I was actually thinking of getting an other beer until I realized I was beening overcharged! I back up and left . So think 5$ +7=12 so my Jack Daniels shot was...
Read moreTipsy Jellyfish is such a wonderful wine bar! There are so many details that I appreciated about it. It is nestled in such a cute block of shops in downtown Oak Harbor.
The esthetic is perfect for whatever wine mood that you’re in - rhere is a counter and tables by the counter, a cozy room with a couch and leather chairs, and a side room that accommodate a slightly larger group.
This wine bar celebrates just how much wonderful wine comes out of the PNW. I had a wonder Washington Merlot, but whether you want red or white - there will be something from Oregon or Washington that delights. There are options outside of the PNW and wine as well (a great cider list).
We were excited to see that they do events too! We have tickets to the thanksgiving event, and we’re very excited.
The owner is extremely friendly and talked to us throughout our time at the bar.
Congrats on winning best of...
