Tropical Treats — Restaurant in Oak Island

Please do not go to this location. There are so many other ice cream and coffee places you can go to around Oak Island. This is such a cute town and I have had an amazing experience otherwise but I recommend not going to Tropical Treats. My friend was disrespected by the manager and he did not offer to make the situation right. I called back to ask how he made the espresso and he informed me they make it at the beginning of the day and let it sit in a fridge which means it has expired by anyone’s standard. DO NOT ORDER COFFEE DRINKS FROM THIS PLACE! I assumed he might apologize when I called back but he said he did not have time to talk like this and he kept repeating that he didn’t want to talk. He then hung up. I called back to make sure the employees knew it was not their fault and that i hoped he wasn’t disrespecting them like he did my friend....

Run by the meanest, cattiest teenager you’d ever met. Sat outside their store to rest after a walk before going into their store for some candy, and one of them takes the time to walk out and scold me like it’s a federal offense to sit in a public area, go so far as to say I’m stupid and with no common sense and to “go away”, and have the nerve to double down when I walk inside and ask what on earth that was all about. My entire visit, I was harassed— all for opting to eat another business’ ice cream outside before ordering inside. As a former frequenter, get your candy fix somewhere else. You’ll find it for much cheaper and from kinder folk— and it goes without saying other ice-cream joints on the island have long had them outclassed. Please, try Sweet Treat instead. I previously considered this kind of behavior unfathomable...

The owner disrespected a friend of mine who ordered and received the wrong drink. He remade the drink WRONG again and then proceeded to blame it on my friend who ordered. They did not offer any money back and then he told her to chill. I am not a middle aged woman complaining about a place I’m not a Karen....
