This is one of the best Indian vegetarian restaurants not just in Orlando, but probably the US. As you can see from all the positive reviews both here as well as handwritten notes on the wall in the restaurant, people in general feel grateful for being able to enjoy real Dosas/Idlis, gobi Manchurian, paneer makhani, falooda, etc. If you are on vacation at the theme parks and want real food, this is definitely the place to go. Regarding some of the negative reviews: 1)Food taste - Even the 1-2 star reviews admit that the food was great, so that's saying something! Still, not everyone can appreciate the taste of real dosas and sometimes people have different taste. But during our 1 week stay in Florida, we were eating here nearly every day, and many others clearly feel the same 2)Food price - about $130 for 4 people...for lunch and dinner. Yes, we ordered extra so we can save some for later. Food has become expensive in restaurants across big cities in USA, but compare it to what you would pay in Orlando theme parks for food that you may not even like. 3)Cleanliness - not sure why people complained. All the dishes we had were clean as was the place in general. If you want to sit and eat off the floor, then maybe it does not meet certain people's standards. 4)Service - maybe reviews from years ago were bad, but all the times we went, we were treated very well. Of course, if you are used to the service at Disney resort hotels, this will feel different, like your usual restaurant. Sometimes, people will expect to be invited to a table - here you have to go sit at a table, then order food. If you are concerned that no one has given you the bill, go to the register and ask. 5)The owner - if you have actually talked to the owner, he is friendly. He has been running the restaurant for over 20 years, which shows how successful it is, but of course, greeting every single customer for so many years is probably hard as well, so hope people realize that.
So in summary - if you are looking for real authentic South Indian food (Dosa,Idly,Vada), with the option to enjoy some North Indian food (Naan, paneer makhani, gobi manchuri, etc), this is definitely the place to go. But you may have to adjust a bit with the service, since it's not the same as the typical...
Read moreWe visited this place basis the reviews & pictures on google for lunch buffet on my birthday since m really found of South Indian food. But, it wasn’t worth the occasion. The ambiance was very local and so was the food. The most surprising part was that for South Indian buffet you only get one mini dosa - that’s it. I mean at first place how can you keep a restriction on nos. if you are providing buffet and secondly being a South Indian restaurant your main attraction or dish is supposedly a “Dosa” so why keep a restriction. Also, it was little offensive to read on big bold letter that we are not suppose to share any meal with others - sorry folks but no one does that mostly unless there is really a cash crunch and one has come for lunch/dinner. I suggest if at all this happens the restaurant should treat those people for charity. Also, the plates and cutlery was very sub standard and the staff were also not friendly or welcoming. Infact, the lady at the counter was talking to someone on video call very loudly while the guests were having there lunch. Now coming to the menu - it had paneer mattar(very few pieces of paneer and mostly gravy with lots of mattar) infact it could have just been mattar masala instead of paneer mattar masala. The parathas were mostly cold and half cooked and there were no idlis or vadas which are again some of the most common South Indian dishes. There was veg Manchurian which was a total misfit since you didn’t have any dish to gel it up with. The uttapam was also half cooked and sticky and most of them were stuck to each other. The staff wasn’t even bothered to refill the dishes with fresh stock once it was getting over. Most of them were ignorant about it. There was only one pickle as an accompaniment and that was also mentioned on the wall above the buffet area. Over all it reminds me of an old shabby school mess where food is served just for the sake of feeding school children. M very upset with this place and wish didn’t rely upon google rating for having my...
Read moreI am appalled by the Google reviews and how famous this place is compared to how arrogant the owner/workers are. I don’t care how good your food is; poor attitude and customer service skills are the absolute worst at this restaurant. We were driving through the town and called an hour before closing time to make sure they would let us place the order. They told us the kitchen closes 15 min before closing time. We dropped off a friend to pick up rental car (5 min from the restaurant) and headed in. The owner said he absolutely will not let anyone sit or place an order until the whole party arrives. We said we can place the order for the person that was on the way. The owner refused. We said we have little kids and it would be great if we can place the order and sit down. This was 45 min before closing time. 60% of the restaurant was empty. When asked for the manager’s name, we were refused. WOW! So much arrogance. Why do people choose to be treated such way? We had little children in our hands and this man showed no grace.
We said we have little children, who are hungry and the man’s response was, “we don’t care.” So anyone reading the reviews, y’ all - this entire street is filled with Indian restaurants (1-2 min drive and you will find at least 3 fine Indian restaurants with owners and workers that actually care about service). How does a place become this famous with such poor attitude and customer service? I am appalled. AVOID THIS PLACE! No good food can make up for the service (or lack of) this place will give you.
And this is for the owner and the person we dealt with - you can shove your attitude up...
