Im honestly shocked at all the 5 star reviews of this place. I stopped by Monday evening as they have a dog friendly patio and a semi decent looking menu. I locked my car at 7:08, noticed the parking lot was covered in trash, and proceeded onward anyways. Walked in and the host told me she’d meet me outside with waters and menus. I stopped by the pull tabs and put $40 in a $1 box before heading out to the patio where I met my boyfriend and dog. There were two other parties on the patio. A couple enjoying a cocktail and two ladies with a large dog. We waited what seemed to be a while for someone to come out and she took our drink order and left and came back shortly after and dropped drinks off and left without a word. I didn’t even have time to ask if we could order before she was gone again. At this point it was 7:20 and the music cut out on the patio and they started playing the audio for the Timberwolves game, which would have been fine if I didn’t have to literally yell to try and talk to my boyfriend on a nearly empty patio and it was also at this point I started paying attention to how long she was actually keeping us waiting. I also acknowledge that i was hungry and growing increasingly irritated by the minute with the gritty sound from the speakers penetrating my ear drums. It wasn’t until 7:36 that our waitress appeared again and took our order and I asked if the audio for the patio could be turned down, seeing as how there’s not even a tv out there to match the sound up with, it’s rather frustrating. Since we were unable to have a conversation we got to looking around at the state of the place and it reminded me of my first marriage: ignoring a lot of red flags and proceeding anyways. At 7:54 our waitress comes back to check on us with some grubby man walking behind her with our food. I again ask about the audio for the patio. She, apparently not having ears, couldn’t tell that the audio had been unchanged and she “told the bartender about it.” She was off again and we were left to attempt to enjoy our unappetizing meals. I ordered the baked salmon and he got a burger with fries. The fries were cold and my salmon dish was… less than to be desired i forgot to take a picture until halfway through but i can assure you it didn’t look much better when I had originally gotten it anyways. At 8:02 I placed my debit card on the table because at this point I was so wildly unhappy and unimpressed with this place that I wanted to leave as fast as possible, when a miracle happened, the audio for the basketball game was finally turned off on the patio. It almost made the wait for our server to finally come back and check on us so we can pay our bill and leave tolerable so we can leave this horrendous place and...

If you get your motor runnin' and head out onto highway 694, looking for that adventure and whatever might come your way - well, that sounds like some fun. While you're on your adventure and listening to some Steppenwolf tunes cruising down 694 through Oakdale, stop for some lunch or dinner at the Wild Boar.
Wild Boar is one of the newest editions to the Twin Cities culinary scene with the location I visited in Oakdale as well as a spot in Hopkins. This particular Wild Boar took over the space that was once occupied by the not so great Demori's Pizza at the intersections of 694/10th Street and Helena Ave. So why stop? Delicious BBQ sandwiches, excellent boneless wings and sauces, cold beverages (always a plus) and friendly staff.
A friend of mine actually invited me to check this place out after becoming an employee of theirs. I couldn't say no and lunch was on the calendar! I started looking over the menu and asking both my friend and our server what I should be checking out for my first visit. The recommendation from our server - "The Spicy Sow is must get!" The recommendation form my friend - "We're getting the boneless wings, there not like other places!" Done deal!
So, we both ordered a Spicy Sow which is served with house pulled pork, thinly sliced and roasted jalapeños, topped with spicy orange marmalade and served on a toasted onion bun. The pork was tender, moist and full of flavor, but the best part to me was the edition of the marmalade. I'm all about being different and unique, separating yourself from the competition and that's what the marmalade does. Take it away and you have another pulled pork sandwich, but I know they have no plans to do that! Your sandwich also comes with a side of slaw and fries or waffle fries.
Those who know me best, know I never order boneless wings, but if they're recommended, I of course have to check them out. Thankfully, my friend was correct - they were nothing like everyone else. Everyone else has small, battered "chicken" that is always over cooked and unpleasant to eat. The Wild Boars' boneless wings were giant pieces of chicken, with a light batter and very tasty. The sauces that he got for the side were a honey chipotle and mango habanero sauces (not as hot as you might think). Both were very delicious!
I definitely have plans to go back to check out their traditional wings and of course extra crispy as I normally do to put them up against the competition. I also want to see how their burgers compare against my favorites as well. There is definitely something for everyone at the Wild Boar and different than what's...
Read moreI've been attending Wild Boar regularly for the past nine months. I go there on Tuesdays to enjoy karaoke with my friends since I have been friends with the DJ for nearly two years. However, the food needs a drastic change; nothing is edible enough to make me want to order again. Even the water has a strange taste. As for the meals, my niece could make a better grilled cheese, as the cooks don't actually grill the bread but only toast it, resulting in a complex and crunchy texture.
It's disheartening to note that some tables at Wild Boar require napkins to prop up their legs, indicating a lack of maintenance. The restrooms, particularly the men's, emit a strong urine odor, reminiscent of a litter box. The women's restroom is not spared either, often with toilet paper on the floor and an overflowing garbage can. These unsanitary conditions are a cause for concern for any patron.
A few months ago, I mentioned a concern about the dust on the ceiling and vents to the bartender, Paulie. Dust particles are present on the walls, making the atmosphere feel disgusting, especially since the air conditioning blows dirt into people's drinks and onto their food. I got fed up with the sight of dust from where I was sitting and wiped some off onto a napkin to show everyone what they were actually eating. I took a few more pictures of the ceiling, which showed dust blowing from many clogged vents. The dust accumulation is so severe that it clings to the wires for their light displays and sprinkler systems.
When I raised the issue of cleanliness with Paulie, he appeared indifferent. He mentioned that he had informed his boss about the problem, but no action was taken. When he asked me why I was taking pictures of the ceiling, he reacted by asking me to leave the restaurant. I informed him that I would be writing a review. This lack of response from management is disappointing and reflects their negligence regarding the restaurant's conditions.
Several patrons witnessed our conversation and were upset by Paulie's reaction. As I was leaving, four other customers also walked out in disgust at the poor quality of the restaurant. I spoke with some of these customers who were waiting for me outside, and they mentioned that Paulie has a reputation for having an attitude and has kicked people out of the bar before. If my ejection was due to being disruptive, I wasn’t bothering anyone. Paulie initiated the conflict, which ultimately led to other customers...
