My friends and I (party of 10) just finished eating there yesterday. The food was delicious but service was not very good. We were waited by an older white gentleman and he was being very rude to the other staff. He was yelling at them in front customers and that was very unprofessional. Especially when it was his fault for failing to put orders in to the system and forgetting small things such as water refills, extra bowl … etc. He didn’t seem to take accountability for his mistakes. Two other customers walked out of the restaurant because they were never helped. Then the older white gentleman yelled and blamed the sushi chef for letting them sit and that he didn’t know they were sitting there. But those two customers were sitting there for a good 20 min! There were kids at the front by the cashier and he was yelling at them to get out of the way. It made my party and I very uncomfortable. We also noticed he didn’t write any orders down and he kept asking us/reiterating the orders over and over. Again he would blame the staff for not fulfilling the order but it wasn’t even in the system to begin with.
He was also very sarcastically rude and passive aggressive to my party as well. I would understand if we all knew him beforehand it wouldn’t be a problem but it was our first time there. His remarks were very rude. For example, my friend wanted to order food to go (after everyone has placed their food orders). He said that she should wait because the food doesn’t take long to bring out. And that the food will be cold. And then he said to my friend, “unless you want it cold. Would you like your food cold??”
We all stood in line at the cashier to pay. He said to my party that we didn’t tell him that our check would be separate. And then went on a tangent that there are large families that come in and that the grandma/grandpa usually pays for it all. You are the worker, you are supposed to ask if the checks are supposed to together or separate. You do not assume. He made us feel like it was our fault for not letting him know to divide our checks.
He was chatting and talking to other customers who have already paid. But not focusing on the customers who have yet to order. He was very flustered tending to my party. Especially if it was small minor things that could be done easily.
I commend the other workers for being so patient and trying to make our experience better. The sushi chef did not deserve to be yelled like that. And the other staff who were in the back. We could hear him yelling from the kitchen. This older white gentlemen is not good at all.
My party and I agreed we won’t...
Read moreReview from 10mos ago: The atmosphere and server were nice both times we went. The robot is an expensive novelty. Two rolls were good. The rest were OK. The CA rolls were $14/roll. They must use real crab...I hope at least for that price.
They DO provide GF options unavailable at other places like fried food etc. They do not crosscontaminate here.
The irritating and unethical feeling is the extensive fees added on. They added $23.59 gratuity onto the initial $98 bill (~23.59%+ gratuity). The service was NOT worth 20% even, maybe 15%. They added an additional charge NOT explained before using a CC from the table. They only spoke about the additional charge once I walked to the register and asked why my bill was $4 more since I okayed it at the table from first glance to returning the receipt to the table AFTER running the CC with no additional purchases. The response was pointing to a sign placed ONLY at the register of an additional there is a 2.75% added if paying by CC. Who pays for sushi with cash?! I understand cc charging passed to the customer at this time it was just one more thing.
We won't be returning because of the outlandish pricing. My husband said he wouldn't return after the first time. The first time/time before this the bill for our family of 4 was $265 total. We didn't remember seeing gratuity added so we probably tipped on top of that! They don't tell you it's included. We have NEVER paid that much for sushi for 4.
We went a second because friends of ours can only get some GF items there. They said some of the extra charges were new. Maybe it's due to the expensive robot and inflation etc.? It's okay food AND NOT worth the price.
BTW, this time I only got edamame and miso soup. My son got 2 CA rolls. My dtr got 2 fried spring rolls and a Rainbow roll. I ordered water and my kids ordered lemonade. $98 was surprising for that!
I'd recommend Sakana over this place. Their rolls are MUCH better and the check is less WITH 2 adult beverages AND you get to add gratuity which we pay 20% for good service anyway.
Today: I tried to edit something. Idk why. It shows as today's date yet the original review ws from 10mos ago. We still won't be back. There are many other less expensive and more tasty Asian...
Read moreMy husband and I have supported this restaurant for a couple of years until yesterday. My husband placed an order online at 6:54pm and told me to pick it up. I got there around 7:25pm and the employee there gave me an attitude, he told me my husband called in the order and he just hung up with him like 5-10 min ago. He said he told my husband it was going to take 20-25 minutes and he took off. I was just standing there like ok?? So I told my husband about the situation and he tells me he placed an online order, but only called Bambu to confirm they got the order around 6:58pm. I informed another employee that I was here to pick up my order and he says ok, but never went to check on the status as well. I waited until close to 7:50pm and rung the bell to get their attention, so the first dude who gave me an attitude earlier comes out with our food. I'm already heated at this point because my mom was in the hospital and I was in a rush to go see her; in addition, I was already starving... So I show this dude my confirmation email regarding the order and told him I didn't appreciate him giving me an attitude and making it seem like we did something wrong when it was their fault for delaying our order. We placed the order at 6:54pm and we didn't even get it until 7:50pm. I even told him if they were busy, he could've said so nicely and I would've been more understanding. He didn't even go check on the status of my order and just took off. Dude had the audacity to argue back saying he's not even the cook, he didn't give me an attitude, and they were so busy, etc. I'm just like whatever dude, like seriously... My husband and I have been supporting this restaurant for how many years... Dude could've been more professional, yet he was still arguing back like a kid. So...
