After discovering this restaurant, we couldn't help but make it our "go to" place the entire week we stayed at Mariposa. The staff members are super nice and attentive. The young man and lady who are servers there also seem very hard working. They always seemed to be doing something: cleaning tables, sweeping, or polishing the silverware. This particularly stood out to me because a lot of the staff members at other businesses in Mariposa, always seemed to be on their phone, as if they didn't enjoy their job or where plain out bored. Anyway, here, the workers seemed to enjoy their job so the customer service was outstanding. Let's talk about the food, a Latina born and raised in Mexico, I can without a doubt say that the food here is the best Mexican food you'll find in Mariposa. Is it 100% "authentic?" The answer is no. Their tortillas are definitely not authentic but hey, they were still delicious. Now, if they handmade their tortillas, it would take their food to a whole another level but I understand why they don't. The only thing I would say is a "con" is that they never had any music playing when we went to visit the restaurant. I feel that some Mexican music would REALLY set the ambiance for the entire restaurant. Anyway, the food is delicious, the drinks are refreshing, the salsa and chips are awesome, the workers are fantastic. 100% recommend this place, come support a family business!

My wife and I made a day trip to Mariposa last Wednesday and we just happened to be near Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant right around Lunch time. The was a wonderful place for lunch before heading into the museum. Everything about this place was great: the ambiance. the food, the service, even the prices. As usual I ordered the chile relleno which I, as an amatuer chef), find to be the most difficult mexican dish to make. They happened to have it on the menu as a side order for $4.50 per.> I thought to start with one of those and have a taco or enchilada. Since it was lunch, and I'm diabetic, this was perfect. Had I had dish with rice and beans as well I might have needed to take some insulin. They have a senior and children's menu, which my wife ordered from, and the portion was perfect. She ordered the taco dish which was $7.50, and it was just a little more than she could eat. I generally don't like going over 4 stars for restaurants, but this one gets 5 because my wife said the beans and rice were the best, she had in Mexican restaurant for a long time. Tip: The blended margaritas ($8.00) come in a fishbowl. Recommend foregoing ordering them if you plan on going into the museum after your meal. But whatever you do, do not miss the Museum when you're visiting Mariposa.

We arrived to a packed restaurant. They're were about 40 people in there and yet the staff for everyone for and drinks in record time. I had the menudo which was excellent, absolutely recommend it! The lengua taco was a little underwhelming, but good. For me, just a small bowl of the menudo would have been enough, the servings are huge! My friend ordered a quesadilla appetizer and it was very tasty, but she was only able to eat half, they're servings are really big, so be prepared. The Jamaica tea was also very good as were the chips age salsa. Everything was so good that I forgot to take all the pictures! Would definitely recommend a visit if you're hungry!

Ah, gather 'round, folks, for the tale of our unforgettable adventure at Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant! Now, let me tell you, this was no ordinary dining experience – it was the stuff of legends, the kind you'll cherish for years to come.

On that fateful day of July 19, 2023, our brave family decided to embark on a culinary journey to Don Ruben's, the famed establishment that promises a gastronomic extravaganza like no other. Little did we know what awaited us within those spicy walls.

As we settled at our table, our taste buds tingling with anticipation, we ordered an assortment of dishes with chicken – because who wouldn't want a grand poultry spectacle, right? The chef's skills in reusing poultry were truly mesmerizing. Some chicken pieces were fresh, straight from the farm, while others had been crisped to a degree that could put Dorito's chips to shame. Bravo, chef! How innovative to turn leftovers into culinary masterpieces!

But hold on, the surprises didn't end there! The soft drink glasses, oh, how they glistened with a questionable cleanness! We couldn't help but wonder if they had a unique seasoning of their own – perhaps a pinch of yesterday's cola mixed with the essence of the day before? Ah, refreshing!

Oh, but the real delight awaited us on the next day. It was like a treasure hunt, but instead of seeking gold, we searched frantically for gas stations to stop at, so we could release the liquefied meals from the day before. What an exhilarating ride it was! You haven't truly bonded as a family until you've endured a collective stomach ache and quest for restrooms.

But let me tell you, the colon cleansing feature – that was the highlight of it all! For a mere $15.99 per person, we achieved a level of intestinal detoxification that would make any doctor jealous. Who needs expensive medical procedures when you have Don Ruben's, right? We became connoisseurs of the colon cleanse, sipping our way to a cleaner, more enlightening existence.

So, my dear friends, if you're looking for an unforgettable experience, a roller-coaster of flavors and sensations, then you simply must visit Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant. They proudly offer satisfaction guaranteed – or your money back! But really, who would want their money back after such a unique adventure? You'll be talking about this daring dining escapade for generations to come....

First and foremost. As a waiter myself. I truly felt bad for the waitress we had. She was the only person on the floor and they were 10 full tables. I ordered the Steak Ranchero which came with a side salad. The world "salad" is generous considering the plate had the most dried, raw, cheap, bagged salad I've ever had. Not to mention the tomatoes definitely came out of a plastic bag or can. Seriously, how hard is it to dice a red tomato??? We also ordered strawberry margarita and the shrimp cocktail. The strawberry margarita have the color of a 7-Eleven Cherry slurpie and looked like it used Red -40 food coloring, the shrimp in the cocktail was definitely frozen and oddly served in tomato juice with the consistency of V8. Last but not least, my main course was offensively served on a plastic plate (seriously, it's a table service restaurant) And personally this left a bad taste in my mouth, I would rather eat out of a take out box because a restaurant should have more pride in the food they serve. The rice was cooked appropriately but the beans were definitely microwaved, And most offensively, the guacamole came out of a squeeze bottle, without a doubt. As someone who used to work at Chipotle, the steak looked like Chipotle steak that was put in a boil bag and did not look like it was put on a grill at all. It honestly looks like a TV dinner. This is definitely an issue at the management level as the staff in the restaurant was very nice and accommodating. One thing I liked about the restaurant is it was somewhat charming. I know the town it's in has very limited options but just...
