Capital Bagel of Oakland is a quaint, small-scale bagel store, ideally sized for about four people inside at a time, catering primarily to pick-up orders with no dine-in option available. Despite its modest size, the quality of the bagels here is nothing short of fantastic. They offer a variety of choices, each freshly made and flavorful, perfect for a quick breakfast or snack on the go. However, it's worth noting that while the bagels are a hit, the coffee doesn't quite measure up. It falls short of the mark compared to the bagels' high standard. For those who are particular about their coffee, you might want to consider getting your caffeine fix elsewhere. Nonetheless, Capital Bagel of Oakland comes recommended for anyone looking for a quick, delicious bite. The bagels alone are worth the visit, making this spot a great choice for satisfying your bagel cravings. Just remember to plan for your coffee needs accordingly.

This was my first visit to this location. While the food was good, my order wasn’t prepared exactly as I had requested. In their defense, it was quite a busy morning. I ordered an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese and jalapeño peppers, but it ended up coming with banana peppers, which have a very different taste. After removing the banana peppers, the bagel was fine. I also had a cranberry muffin, which was excellent. The store’s layout is quite cramped. There’s very little room once two customers are inside, making it difficult for others to come in comfortably. They might need to rethink the layout to accommodate more customers. Despite these issues, I still think this location is worth a visit. The food quality is good, and with some improvements, it could be a great spot.

⭐⭐⭐ 3/5 Capital Bagel on Commercial and Andrews Ave is my go-to for fresh, delicious bagels. They’re always on point — soft inside, just the right chew, and packed with flavor. You can tell they take pride in what they bake. The staff has always been nice when I visit and very quick to get my order ready. However, the coffee pricing is way off. I paid $5.10 for a medium, which is more than Starbucks at $3.16. For a local spot, that’s a tough pill to swallow. Definitely something they should reconsider. Also, keep in mind this is strictly a takeout spot — no seating available. Perfect for a quick grab-and-go breakfast, but not the place to sit down and enjoy.

Went here to grab us lunch, they were out of spreads we wanted so rather than getting bagels with spreads, I just got a bagel with lox spread. The bagel was stale and a very little spread of cream cheese. Super disappointing. I got Telmo a ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant, they put 1 small piece of cheese and 3 very small pieces of ham on it and charged $10.50 for the sandwich. Such a rip off. The woman working there clearly was not happy being at work and was slamming the sandwiches on the counter and cut them way off center. I felt like an inconvenience rather than a customer, and felt very awkward and unwelcome. We were starving so we ate it, though I wish there was a way to give them the miserable food back and get back our $20. I’ve gone to their other location many times and this one as well, but after the experience today and completely horrible lunch from this place I don’t think I’ll be going back to get food for us, or getting bags of bagels with spreads...
