worker joked something to his coworker about something "la negra" after i asked if my onions could be cooked more and then his coworker would not stop staring and smirking my direction endlessly as if he was gauging if i heard them or not, looked and seemed racist as hell and has lessened an opinion of the business
not a fan of that. also they usually give me caramelized onions each time, but will do this thing where I can order a quesabirria and they will give it to me the first time, but if i come back 5 mins later to order another one they'll not give me onions, and when i ask about it, the guy i pick up the order from pretends as if he's never heard of an onion in his life and has no idea what grilled onions are. then his buddy, the cook, comes out, then gives me some caramelized onions that taste 10/10
last time they just straight up gave me slightly cooked but still raw onions and it felt like i got punched in the chest from the instant sourness and the heart burn, and cue an awkward interaction where the cook, who usually makes amazingly brown soft beautiful caramelized onions.... kept giving me just straight up undercooked onions. it wasnt even out of spite or a beef, it was as if they get Men in Blacked memory erased and forgot how to make carmelized onions, and eventually i just settled for a plate of browned-ish but not at all carmelized onions, and had to miss out on sweet heaven :/
annoying to spend 15 bucks on food just for potential racism and them messing up one of my favorite parts of my food, I like consistency and respect yknow
cashier is a sweetheart though and the food is incredible, grievance aside i may still go and i wish they stayed open a bit later since theyre so good. just not sure i wanna bother...
Read moreOverrated. The food is good, it's not like any of it came out bad. But you can order better birria tacos then those and better salsa especially if you like Hot sauce not Generic hot sauce for white people taste buds. I order Consomé with birria. Picture this your standard white Horchata cup 20% maybe less birria , 80 Or more consomé. I also ordered a quesadilla and two birria tacos. The amount of birria they give you in your single taco is the amount you get in your Consomé order. The quesadilla de asada you know it's nothing to spectacular for $12. La Penca Or La Piñata can match that price and give bigger size amount. I was hoping it would be good portion for the price based on everyone's reviews but this didn't even passed those restaurant standards that mentioned. So far the best Birria tacos with a solid good hot hot sauce like real Hot Sauce is a restaurant in San Leandro on Washington Street & Marina blvd right across Big Otires. It's called United Mexican Food. Small place but I been going there for a couple years now. Great seafood too. I'ma give this place a second chance to try their other products. But if they give BS portions for the prices they're selling them for. I'ma keep it at 2 stars. We'll see. But for now I would recommend other locations. Today's date...
Read moreVisited this taco truck on a Friday around 5 p.m. The crowd was thin, but parking was a bit of a hassle—especially during rush hour. If you’re coming by car, try parking near the BART station.
The space is large and laid-back, filled with picnic tables. The menu goes beyond basic tacos, offering things like mulitas, quesabirria, and vampiros. A major plus: they have a self-serve salsa bar, so you can customize your meal however you like.
I tried two fish tacos, expecting a lot since they claim to specialize in seafood. Unfortunately, they were just okay—not bad, but not memorable either. On the brighter side, the carne asada vampiros were tasty: crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor, although a bit messy to eat.
The horchata was excellent—definitely high-quality and worth trying.
Overall, the place is good for a casual hangout with friends, and the food is decent. It didn’t knock my socks off, but if you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out...
