I am a breast cancer survivor, and it’s been a long journey. Just as I thought I was finished with everything, I discovered I had to get two more surgeries. One of the surgeries was major and required three months for recovery.
Rather than ask my friends to organize a meal train or use food delivery services, I asked my network to buy gift cards to Planted Table instead. I was fortunate that my network was so generous. I was much happier and healthier with Planted Table than a meal train, where your friends might cook and bring you meals with love, but they also bring you things that you don’t want to eat or aren’t necessarily healthy for you - because they are super busy with their families or jobs.
I chose a five-meal plan from a menu that changed each week, and their choices were all vegetarian. I loved the food.
They put a lot of thought into their menu, which was way better for me than ordering from out each night. There is just one delivery pickup for a week’s worth of meals, so you don’t have to waste a lot of extra money on individual delivery fees and tips - which adds up in Oakland when you order delivery direct from restaurants on individual meals.
With Planted Table, you also don’t end up with a ton of Styrofoam or useless plastic containers. Their food comes in quality glass containers and a big delivery bag that you return to them every week.
Their customer service is outstanding. They were always able to email or text me if I had questions. They even text you reminders about pick-up times.
Planted Table is a fantastic way to eat healthier without killing the environment. Their food is delicious, offers variety, and has clear instructions on storage and cooking. If you know someone recovering from an illness or surgery, this is a FANTASTIC way to...
Read moreYummm!!! If you are thinking of giving them a try, just do it! I recommend them wholeheartedly! We've been ordering for 4 years now. We love this 100% vegan service and feel so lucky that it's local. It has been a life saver for us with our busy schedules. Without this service, we would resort to eating the same dish for 3-4 days and do a bunch of take-out but with this service, we are eating so much more variety while eating so well and healthy. The quality and variety is like a really good restaurant; it's surprising and exciting to discover what's on the menu each week. The meals are different every week, made from fresh produce and you can tell there is a lot of thought that goes into the menu. You can customize your bag and the more meals you get, the better the price/meal. The deserts are delicious, too. I was gluten-free & vegan for couple of years and they have and extensive gluten-free menu to choose from. I really like that they have really high quality re-useable glass and steel pans. You can typically throw them in the oven or microwave. They also offer local vegan goods such as vegan chocolate, Acme bread, empanadas you can add to your bag. I tried other vegan food services and this one is hands down the best one I tried. The customer service via texting is excellent as well. Looking at our labs, our health has significantly improved since we became vegan and we owe thanks to this service for making it so easy to eat healthy food. Also love their Thanksgiving and...
Read moreI wish more people knew that, oftentimes, meal delivery services actually SAVE you money… despite seeming extravagant at first glance. Why? Because you will eat out less and creat less food waste by refraining from ambitiously buying things that you never cook. Not to mention the time and energy saved on meal planning, cooking, shopping and dishes.
As for the food, you will be amazed by some of the things that they come up with. I would say that 75% are delish with the other 25% still being quite good. (Not that different of a rate than a restaurant.)
The customer service and organization are outstanding.
Finally, even if you are not Vegan, this is a great way to replace some of your meals with plant based options. Every bit helps when it comes to sustaining our planet ☺️. One good way is to keep a “vegan house” but then indulge every once in a while when eating out. (I’m sorry, but I just can’t give up croissants just yet.)
And, most of all, support your Local, Vegan eateries!!! (As opposed to the larger, more corporate options that have vegan plans but primarily...
