Pretty bad experience at Bardo, cannot recommend. The environment is beautiful, the menu looks great, but in execution there were many failures.

First off, we ordered drinks and they trickled in to our table over 15 minutes, not really making it possible to enjoy our cocktails together. Apps were mediocre to bad: the pickled vegetables were tough and hard to eat, there was a pickled squash with the skin on that was not edible.

Next, there was a vegetarian item that they ran out of on the menu—that left one entrĆ©e that we could order that didn’t have meat. Not a big deal. With had 3/4 vegetarians at the table, we were hoping we wouldn’t all have the get the exact same dish so we asked if it would be possible to do a plate of sides combining several of the wonderful sounding items. The kitchen said no, leaving us only one option for dinner—we were told ā€œthe chef highly recommends the gnocchiā€. Welp, we were definitely going to order that but had hoped we wouldn’t be ordering 3 of them. Whatever, that’s fine.

The gnocchi arrives and it’s nearly inedible—they were trying to balance the heavy cream sauce by dashing some vinegar on it, but in practice that meant every other bite had a terribly strong acidic vinegar flavor that was so pungent it kind of made you wince. Everyone who had gnocchi had GA problems the next day too as a fun bonus.

One of the people in our party had a pork chop and he reported it was ā€œfineā€.

For the prices I really expected something closer to fine dining. Service throughout was poor, though I hate to ding a place for that, given the shortage of...

LOVE LOVE LOVE BARDO LOUNGE, AND SUPPER CLUBšŸ¤©šŸ˜‹šŸ˜šŸ˜Œ The Burger is the Best in the Business (and I should know ā€˜cause…You don’t have a last name like mine without being an expert critic)

Anywhoooo… I’m somewhere between a ā€˜Regular’ and a Super Super Club Fan. The Service, Drinks and Gourmet Cuisine are ALWAYS on point!! Oh YAH! …The Burger… When you order The Burger, there’s no need to request a temp BECAUSE IT’S COOKED TO PERFECTION! šŸ˜™šŸ‘ŒšŸæ Comes with Cheddar and all the fix’n’s but you can go naked if that’s your thing (weirdošŸ˜‘) Brioche bun, Tender and Juicy to the very last bite! (Gawd!! I’m getting hungry again…) I’d recommend you try it šŸ˜™šŸ‘ŒšŸæ

This place just has All The Things!! Artisan drinks are worth the investment. The eclectic Mid Century vibe of Bardo is paired perfectly with that ā€˜Home-y’ feel, especially if you’re in the Gen X(YooouKnow!!) to the older Millennial group. Reminds you of Mom and Dads home decor of that eraā€¦šŸ˜Œ

The Wait Staff are AWESOME 🤩 Coming back after the Pandemic just feels like coming home…To excellent drinks, great food and a hard working staff. Like I said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE BARDO LOUNGE, and SUPPER...

Hostess greeted us promptly and was friendly. Our bartender Shanna, was great, friendly, working her but off and provided some good timed interjections. We had the Bardo club, sweeter cocktail for my wife, I had the caught in the rain, a tequila pina colada and the sweet grass, which was sweet & spicy, fresh & herbaceous. I'd start with this next time. Ate at the bar, stool were comfortable and liked to retro/vintage vibe of the decor. Had nostalgia of eating at my old house back in the 70/80s. Between the 2 of us, we had 4 starters split an entree. We began with the pickled vegetables, came with a sweet dip, was ok, Oakland cesar was great, fried capers and soft boiled quail eggs were nice additions, Crispy pork belly was good, a little stringy, maybe better if cut into portions and duck liver mousse with Quince was one of my favorites. The entree was the duck breast and for $40 we did get a good size portion. Definitely enough for 2 or 1 hungry person without the starters. The duck cracklings and celery puree was nice contrast and the meat was cooked perfectly on the rare side. Definitely recommend and will...

We live locally and walk by this place all the time, so finally decided to come in! We had 7:15pm reservations on a Thursday, but had to wait about 15 minutes as the tables before us were not done yet. A couple with 7pm reservations arrived after us and were seated immediately, so maybe arriving late is the way to go. Once inside, we ordered two of their cocktail of the week - love that they have that, and it was pleasant. We also opted for the $80 set menu-type thing - it has a cute name but I can't remember what it was. This was a great choice - it was really good value when you look at the other prices, and the food was overall solid. The best things were definitely the local melon salad, the croquettes, the pickled vegetables, and the apple cake dessert. The two main courses were pretty "meh", sadly, hence knocking a point off. The waiter did say that you can tell them you don't want tofu in the fixed price menu, which is a great tip that we'll remember for next time. Overall, we'd return! We also had 2 glasses of wine each, for a grand total of 275 before tip.

Food: food was fantastic we ordered the salad with strawberries, the chicken liver mousse, the chicken and grits and the sole. The chicken liver mousse was delightful and so rich, you HAVE to try it with the full combo of strawberries and the bread it is so well balanced. Our favorites were the chicken and grits (the mushrooms are such a great addition to the dish) and the sole, it has such a different asian flavor profile. We both wished the dishes had a bit of spice (perhaps a sort of sauce on the side, we think it would help cut the richness) but overall fantastic food. Come with an empty stomach, portions are good and food is rich. Service: our waitress was fast and very kind, she had great recommendations Atmosphere: the place is well lit, bathrooms are clean, decor didn’t have a clear line that we could follow that could perhaps be tied to the style of cuisine or menu but we enjoyed the experience Would 100% recommend and come back for a special occasion

Overall, I enjoyed our experience at Bardo. My husband and I sat at the bar to celebrate my birthday on Friday night around 7:15. The bartenders were friendly and eager to help make our experience wonderful, however I was really disappointed as the drink I had been eyeing was ā€œout of stockā€ for the rest of the night. The bartender was nice and made me something he thought would good with the same base liquor. We then went to order appetizers and yet again, the items we wanted were sold out for the night. I was really bummed, as it was Friday night at a normal dinner hour, why would ingredients be sold out so early on? I’d maybe eat here again but would almost feel compelled to call the restaurant to see if the food/drinks I want are available beforehand.
