My husband wanted to eat here & we made the trip.
Much better but wow to customers. I went to the dessert area, this woman with a dinner plate had 3+ plates lined up by the strawberries & chocolate fondue. I was behind her. I said excuse me because she was standing & blocking EVERYONE from there. There were others behind me. I got 3 strawberries & while I was putting the chocolate this women's daughter came up. I didn't realize it at first but they were talking ABOUT me. They were talking about hitting me with a plate, how I said excuse thinking I should move ahead of her while she stood there. Daughter said I can hit the white B there ain't nothing she can do because I am a minor. The people behind me said, "we'll just come back". I turned and said you think you can just attack me & I would have right to defend myself? You are encouraging your daughter to attack me over MY color. You are a horrible parent. Dear if you attacked me I guarantee you will be arrested & your wonderful parent will join you for urging you to assault someone. So are you two going to clobber me with those plates? If not f off. Those two just were like 😯 Amazing how people are like this. Oh and they filled all the plates with the strawberries leaving none. Great customers.
I am really considering not coming here, like wow
2018 Our server this time around was on top of it. I was a little bit disappointed in the buffet itself. It seemed like they were not keeping up with getting dished out. The entire time while there, a fried fish sat in the sweet potatoes. There were strawberries sitting there waiting to be put out by the chocolate fondue as there were no strawberries. The lady doing the dessert just ignored it for 30 minutes or longer. They just had to be put out on the platter but they just sat behind the other desserts.
7-27-2018 Hey management we tried again since we were on a short road trip. Linda was our server. She started out great. She was good at removing dishes. She was NOT good at getting refills. My husbsn had ine refill. He isn't the type to ask. We stayed a bit longer than usual. First thing there WAS empty serving containers. Multiple items either were close to being empty and many were empty. Many people were asking when there would be this or that. Yes this is a Friday but your employees should know how to keep a buffet going. Again, strawberries kept going low. Nit on top of it at all.
Oh and we met one if your employees. She came in with the cutest baby. Many of your employees flocked to her to visit with her. You know since Friday around lunch time isn't busy at all. At first she was by the wall just where you would exit. Then she and her children went around visiting with people. She was in the kitchen area, in the dessert area.... here and there. One of the employees even had told her "I thought you had your tubes told and "here you are with ANOTHER baby". I was likevwow really. Maybe I can understand why the employees aren't doing their jobs. Just before thiscwoman left with her kids, she came to the dining area where Linda our server was. Yup we heard their entire 25+ minute conversation they had qround customers because hey we don't need a server. Thus is probably why Linda started out as a great server and went to a bad server.
Btw, the banana's in the banana pudding were turning dark. You know that is gross. You need a visual, I added a picture.
To top that off, there were customers using the bathroom who had their children in the hallway and in theveomen's bathroom. One boy in the ladie's bathroom was screaming and beating on the bathroom stalls. I guess the 2 adult women who had these kids don't control them or know how to. Then in the hallway two 9ther boys are kicking the walls. Yikes.
Like I said we tried again and to reflect this experience we lowered our rating.
Your management here is lacking. I wonder why they would allow a woman not on the clock with a baby and another child into areas where food is being cooked, prepared...
Read moreWorst Thanksgiving and Golden Coral experience EVER! 1 Star is too gracious! A complete waste of time and money. Was seated right next to the bathroom entrance and cleaning station even after I asked not to be. There was another table, the same size and the same chair count open and clean that the jerk in the green shirt could have sat us at.(Which was the Asst. Manager Jose Rodriguez, thanks Jose!) So wafting bathroom and table cleaning chemicals ruined the entire meal. It made me want to throw up the entire time. I could barely eat anything because of it. Had to sit and listen to one of the employees stand right there and talk to a guy walking around with a circle k soda for like 20 min complaining about everything under the sun yet she was going around telling customers to "be nice people it's Thanksgiving". There was a couple in line, that instead of getting in the back of the line (which wasn't far back) when the rest of their party of 6 more showed up they just cut in front of everyone, and Golden Corral seated them ahead of 3 previous parties. Way to reward and be ok with bad, bad ethics, GC. Then GC yelled at folks, including myself, to move back when there was no place to move to. (After they took your money, of course.) We were all jammed into a pinch point while waiting to be seated in this '''' Model '''' restraunt. The layout appears like GC's attempt to jam the restraunt into a smaller footprint. The planners need to go back to the drawing board because if you roll out the footprint of this restraunt elsewhere, you will be filling bankruptcy sooner than projected. WORST THANKSGIVING EVER THANKS TO GOLDEN CORRAL OCALA! Thanks Jose for making a Disabled Vets Thanksgiving Day totally miserable all because you wanted to be a jerk that couldn't care less about the needs of the customer. I haven't had or went out for Thanksgiving or a Thanksgiving meal in a almost 2 decades so again thanks Golden Coral for such a miserable experience and a...
Read moreI went here on a Sunday and then again during the week, both times for lunch. It was like two different restaurants. During the week, the food actually seems fresher, more flavorful, and less watered down. Admittedly it was a post-hurricane weekend, but Sundays visit was horrible. During the week, my waitress was extremely attentive, polite, and upbeat; my dirty plates always went away and my drink had several refills, all before I had finished the one I was on. On Sunday, it was a mess, I was only able to get her to refill my soda once, she would ask how I was doing while in the process of moving on to the next table; I would say she was just too busy (which I would've understood), but I noticed there were 2 of 3 tables that she was very attentive with and even had a rather lengthy conversation with one couple while her rear end was practically in my face. The atmosphere was also night and day different. On Sunday it was a mad house, there were quite a few people there with infants, I even had to wait while one guy burped his baby over the buffet. I just can't believe a big business like this, that regularly deals with families, has no plan for customers coming in with children too young to eat there. At the very least, why aren't people with infants put into a separate section just for them? On the weekday, it was absolutely lovely! The noise level was what a normal restaurant is and I could hear my dining partner without us having to yell at each other. The fewer patrons was nice for better buffet access, but just simply not having to be on guard for people making unexpected stops or turns in front of me was great - it's like driving in 5 o'clock traffic vs driving in the mid morning, and my nerves were quite thankful for the change. All in all, I'll be going here again, but it's going to be...
