As a Chef for 30+ years I rarely dine out. That said, Albertinos has been offering an AYCE Special of Soup, Salad, Pasta, & Pizza this off-season for $12.95 that I've wanted to try. First, the French Onion was "good". The cheese was scant & just covered the croutons floating in the center of the crock. I next had their garden salad, while my daughter had a Caesar. The garden salad was a mix of romaine & mesclun lettuces, w/cherry tomato halves, julienned carrot, & a couple of thinly sliced red peppers. This was a nice, unpretentious salad- no wilted greens- sweet, ripe cherry tomatoes, crunchy carrots, & very robust & sweet red bell pepper. The Italian dressing was emulsified & was a great balance of acid from the vinegar, garlic, and a touch of sweetness. The Caesar (which I sampled from my daughter's plate at first, & later ordered to finish my meal) was excellent- homemade dressing that was creamy & noticeably enhanced w/Parmigiano Reggiano cheese over crisp Romaine w/crunchy croutons. Our next course shifted to their pizzas. They offer 6 varieties by the slice & it's prepared fresh to order. We were the first table seated just after opening so there were no "pre-made" pizzas under a heat lamp. When we shared w/ our server what we wanted to try (in our case 3 varieties) their chef prepared 3 whole pizzas to satisfy our desire to sample. The 6 varieties offered are: Cheese, Pepperoni, Margherita, Quattro Formagio, Veggie Bianco, & the "Albertino" (tomato sauce, house-made Italian sausage, fire roasted red peppers, pickled red onions, roasted garlic, & mozzarella.) None of our choices disappointed. First & foremost, the pizza dough is center-stage, the star of the show. There is a super thin crispy outer layer to the crust that gives way to a soft, airy inner crust with a delicate chew. The bottom of the crust has a slightly thicker crispy layer thanks to the wood fired brick oven its cooked in. (900 degrees!) The dough is proofed for 48 hours- something I predicted upon my first bite, & confirmed w/ our server. The pizza sauce is tomato-centric-- this is not a typical pizza sauce loaded with excessive oregano... this is a balanced sweet & acidic pure tasting sauce that pairs perfectly w/ their dough. The "Albertino" was perfection! The fire roasted peppers are sweet & super flavorful, the pickled onions are a supporting player & truly the chunks of house-made sausage are the shining star of this pizza. Again, some pizza spots who dare attempt to produce in-house made Italian sausage overload their grind of cuts of pork w/ excessive fennel or crushed pepper. This sausage is savory, not overly fatty, & has authentic flavor without covering up the natural flavor of the pork. This was my over-all best pick of the pizzas. The Quattro Formagio pizza was excellent as well. A white pizza (no tomato sauce) with a creamy white sauce, roasted garlic & a blend of cheeses. Without the tomato sauce on this pizza, you come to a deeper appreciation for the dough/crust. This dough can carry anything you can think of topping it with. Finally- they offer a choice of pasta w/ marinara. The sauce- it's homemade, it's robust, it's tomato forward without heavy enhancement from herbs & seasonings. The pastas offered are spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine, & penne. All the pasta is FRESH & housemade. We tried the penne & the linguine. You cannot doubt the pasta was made minutes before you pierced it w/ your fork. Totally apparent it's fresh as fresh can get. The marinara has chunky & stringy pieces of tomato flesh. The sauce clings to the pasta. The pasta has a wonderful toothiness & is both firm & tender. I topped my penne w/ crushed red pepper flakes & some grated parmesan cheese which knocked it out of the park for me. This off-season special allows a customer to try a number of truly wonderful items on their menu for an incredible price. Albertinos offers some of the best pizza and pasta we've found in Ocean City. We' ll be back & I...
Read moreI just arrived in OC and needed to feed my family since it was late. I called this establishment and this lady answered the phone, didn't know the price of the pizza and had to look it up. I placed my order and when I picked the pizza up, the price I quoted changed of course to a higher cost. The women on the phone was rude, when I arrived at this place I had to wait 10 minutes for the same lady to cash me out. I inquired who took my order and she said it was her. I told her she was rude to me and she should know the prices of her food. I asked who the owner was and she said it was her. Sad to see an owner who is rude to customers and doesn't have a clue of the cost of her product.
However, the pizza was outstanding. Unfortunately I won't be back due to the owner is an a$$!
Hello Albert. Unfortunately I don’t have the ticket number. However just to clarify, I ordered a half pepperoni half meatball around 830pm Friday 12 July. As I stated the pizza is outstanding but the lady who took my order was rude and seemed like I was a bother inquiring the price, and she shouldn’t be posing...
Read moreWe read all the great reviews and couldn't wait to taste the pizza, only to be disappointed. We were greeted and seated immediately on this hot Saturday night. We placed our order of 3 ice waters and a large pizza. I only wanted a whipped vodka & diet, if they had whipped. My son wanted a soda. We got 3 waters and nothing else for 15 mins. My son asked for his soda. About 5 mins later I got something that was alcoholic, but not whipped vodka. My server said she made it herself as she dropped it off, because bar tender was so busy. When she came back, 5 mins later, she said she doesn't know exactly what's in it. (So I guess she lied) Then we watched her serve a plate to a customer's table that had mashed potatoes on it, after smashing them in the back of her co-worker's shirt, by accident. After 2 more tables were seated and served their pizza's, we were still waiting....we got up, explained everything to the hostess, tried to pay for the soda my son drank, but she said don't worry about it. Wow. Just wow. Worst experience ever. I will never...
