My first time trying Primo Hoagies wasn’t pleasant. The vegetarian sub I ordered was pretty good and stands as the only reason I can give 3 stars to this place. Granted, I walked in just a few minutes before closing, but it’s the winter and I would think the lack of business this time of year would make the staff more hospitable to customers regardless of arrival time. That logic didn’t hold there tonight. The woman at the counter was clearly aggravated with my presence. I asked if it was okay that I was there and if she was still serving food. “For three minutes” she responded curtly. I felt uncomfortable with that, but given the lack of options in OC at this time of night and year, I didn’t have any other place to go. Not to mention, I have a lot of school work to do and didn’t have time to hunt for a more accommodating restaurant. I reluctantly looked at the menu, but the fact that I didn’t know what I wanted threw her into a huff and puff. She couldn’t believe that I had to look at the menu to decide what I might want to spend my money on and eat. It took less than 15 seconds to decide, but that was too much. She rolled her eyes and breathed a sigh that expressed nothing but utter impatience. I apologized for the late order, to which she said nothing but “here’s your receipt”. I signed and even left a tip in hopes that she would know I’m not an ungrateful patron. She didn’t touch or look at the receipt once. I stood waiting, wondering if my sandwich would be littered with spit and boogers. The man who made my sandwich seemed nice enough. I again apologized to him for the late order. He smiled but said nothing. As I left, she came and locked the door behind me, turning to her coworkers saying who-knows-what. It wasn’t a pleasant experience and I certainly won’t return if I see her there again. Management will hopefully make clear to her that customers are important to the survival of the business and as the front of house service member, it is her job to make sure the customer isn’t made uncomfortable just because they order food the shop was built to sell even if at a time that was...
Read moreI placed my order before everybody who came in the door and for some reason I was the last one to get my order . I didn’t ask the lady at the cash registers name (blonde hair and older lady) , but I asked why did I get my order last when I was here first and she replied “I don’t know.” Then I stared at her like she was crazy and proceed to walk out the door saying “Have a blessed day.” Obviously, she has personal beliefs, but regardless she should be professional and respectful to EVERYONE who walks in the door. She’s not at home, she’s at work. I know I was stereotyped because of my skin color (Which is brown.) I was very respectful and pleasant to her (Even after she had me wait longer than everyone else.), but I did express that she was unfair and not treating people equally. The hoagies are good but the service sucked. Now, I know that they’re funny over at primo hoagies. Thanks for that terrible experience. It sucks for them because I would have told everyone I know to go to primos and I know people who are loyal customers to certain businesses. I’m a gorgeous brown woman and people love to follow gorgeous people (Let’s be honest people.) so if I go into a business someone always comes in right after me and usually more than one person. It never fails. A business can be completely empty, but as soon as I step in it gets crowded. Also, people love to talk to me and stare at me. Haha! It’s true. P.S.- I called the manager on the phone and talked to him about the incident and he said he would check the cameras. That’s great and all , but are you going to talk to the lady and get her to take some culture and race classes. If you don’t want to see or work with different cultures and race then don’t work. That simple. It’s 2019 so get use to it. Oh and I will come back because I like the sandwiches and nobody’s going to stop me from eating good food and I also want to see if that lady is going to be fair and...
Read morePrimo is one of the better sandwich options I've found in Ocean City. A branch of a sandwich chain originating in Philly's, it focuses mostly on their hoagies with an Italian/American slant. I was surprised to see a philly cheesesteak missing from the menu, in lieu of cold cut and chicken cutlet sandwiches, but there are other good options. We called in our order, it was recorded correctly, we were given a reasonable time frame to pick up, and the sandwiches were ready when we arrived. It also happens to be located next to a beer store, so you can do double duty while picking up. I got the Bada Bing, which is a chicken cutlet topped with sharp provolone and fresh broccoli rabe. The chicken they used was good quality and pounded thin. The bread wasn't great, but it was crisp and suitable for sandwiches. As advertised, the provolone they use is nice and spicy; most places use a cheap, flavorless provolone, which drives me nuts. The broccoli rabe used wasn't especially fresh, but it was still good and loaded with garlic. The sandwich was well made and seemed to have been made by someone who knew how to balance the ingredients together (shocking, I know!). A small size was also sufficient for lunch. I'll definitely order from here again next time I'm in OC. It may be a chain, but it's a chain that does things the right way. It's also light years better than places like Pizza Tugos, and although that normally isn't saying much, it sadly does say quite a bit for OC...
