I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at "Flavors of Italy," an Italian restaurant that left a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons. From the moment we stepped in, it was evident that our evening would be far from enjoyable. The combination of terrible food and an excruciatingly long wait made this dining experience one to forget.
Let's begin with the food. The menu at Flavors of Italy showcased a promising array of traditional Italian dishes, setting high expectations. However, it quickly became apparent that the quality of the ingredients and the execution of the recipes were severely lacking. The appetizers arrived lukewarm and lacked any discernible flavor. The calamari was rubbery, overcooked, and tasteless, and the bruschetta was soggy and lacked the freshness one would expect.
As we moved onto the main courses, our dissatisfaction only grew. The pasta dishes were overcooked and drowned in a bland sauce that did little to elevate the taste. The pizza was a soggy mess, with a thin, undercooked crust and a sparse amount of toppings that lacked any distinct flavors. It was evident that the kitchen lacked attention to detail and failed to deliver the authentic Italian experience promised.
To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. Our orders were taken promptly, but the wait for our food was interminable. A reasonable expectation turned into a three-hour ordeal, and the staff made no effort to communicate or apologize for the delay. The lack of transparency and consideration for their customers' time was deeply disappointing.
Throughout the evening, we attempted to flag down the waitstaff for updates, but they seemed disinterested and inattentive. The overall lack of professionalism was evident, as they appeared overwhelmed and untrained in handling the restaurant's operations during busy hours. It was a disheartening experience to witness the chaos and disorganization that unfolded before our eyes.
Given the poor quality of the food and the excessively long wait, it is not surprising that the atmosphere suffered as well. The once-promising ambiance was overshadowed by frustrated diners and an air of dissatisfaction that permeated the restaurant. It was disheartening to witness multiple customers expressing their frustrations and disappointment, creating an unpleasant environment for all.
In conclusion, my experience at "Flavors of Italy" was nothing short of a disaster. The terrible food, coupled with an excruciating three-hour wait, left a lasting negative impression. The lack of attention to detail, unprofessional service, and subpar culinary execution all contributed to an overall disappointing dining experience. I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment, as it fails to deliver on its promises of authentic Italian cuisine and a pleasant dining experience.

Read moreStopped in to this little Italian Gem on the boardwalk this afternoon.. Like everywhere they are a little understaffed, but the waitress has us seated quickly and then could be seen at other tables. Took our order which came out quick. I had the chicken parmesan and my wife had eggplant parmesan. Both were larger portions than we expects, full of flavor and some of best Italian food we have had in a while. On the chicken parmesan you could tell the chicken had been tenderized properly, pan fried and then served. It was tender, juicy and tasted great. The pasta sauce was full flavor and had a hit of creaminess that paired well with the parmesan. My wife had nothing but great things to say about her eggplant parmesan as well and we both ate everything not wanting to ruin the flavors reheating them. Heard another table commenting on how great the pizza was, will have to try. Also looking forward to trying their seafood plates as I heard they are also great. We had a chance to meet the chef as well, very nice gentlemen. Highly recommended. Worth the slight wait and great view from our table of the beach.
10/1/21 Second visit this trip to Ocean City, MD.
Would have left another review but the system only allow you to leave one.
Wife and I decided to return to Flavors of Italy on the Boardwalk once more before heading home for the season. This time she had the lasagna and I had the penne ala vodka. Both came out quick with more of their homemade garlic bread. Generous portions as can be seen in the photos, but full of flavor and they just were made to please. Elana our server greeted us and even remembered us from Monday, got our order and as always was very nice and inviting. Meal definitely was the hit of the day. Our only regret is that we are leaving early tomorrow and can't come back again before we go. Give them a try, you will not be...
Read moreI agree with Chris 100 percent! If you don't mind throwing your cash away, this is the place to go! But if you cherish your hard earn money then PLEASE find another place to eat. This is my first time in Ocean city and upon arriving. I was feeling really hungry and came across this "restaurant " Flavor of Italy bistro (what a joke) my girlfriend and I checked out their menu posted outside was intrigued with the dishes they had to offer. We when in and I order the shrimp and scallops with fettuccine alfredo and she order the (2) lump crab cakes with fries . The waiter brought us their signature garlic bread which consists of their house dough rolled about 7in long and then bake to an unrecognizable color on each side of the dough, then lather in olive oil and sprinkle with grated cheese served on a plate drizzle with a heavy amount of dry oregano on each side of the plate. (Yummy) as for the main dishes 1. The shrimp and scallops fettuccine alfredo, the sauce was very bland it had 4 premature baby shrimp and 6 of smallest floating Bay scallops I ever seen. The lump of crab cake consist of just little pieces crab and a whole of fillers which was so salty she could only eat 3/4 of one! it left her with that craving for a gallon of water afterwards. The best thing on her dish was the fries. The bill...A whopping $66.00
I don't mind paying the price if the food justify the quality, quite frankly their food does not justify their high prices.
Do your due diligence and read the reviews of the places you want to eat on and off the boardwalk before you go to these restaurants, you will save your a lot of money and...
