Never going back. TL;DR: Extremely slow service, poor service, overpriced yet mediocre food (that got me sick).
We went on a monday night. Place was about halfway empty. Were standing at the door for a while with no acknowledgement from wait staff. Took about 5 minutes of standing there to be seated. Other patrons were joking saying "I guess you can just seat yourself" because we were awkwardly standing there for so long.
It took FOREVER for us to get our orders placed. I told my family i was considering putting money on the table for the drinks and walking out because of how long we were sitting there unattended to. The waiter was confused and lost in the sauce. Seemed like it was his first day waiting tables. We had to ask for silverware, napkins, and my salad that i ordered. Food was not brought out for the whole table at the same time. So we had one person with no food, while others had their semi-complete orders.
The only things that happened in a timely manner was getting our initial drinks and entrees delivered.
All of the food was very expensive so i was at least expecting it to be high quality or large portions (it was neither). Everything was mediocre and one persons' Grouper was so salty she couldn't finish it. I paid $18 for some zucchini noodles and 6 shrimps in marinara sauce and a salad. Way overpriced. They ran out of the special of the day so i couldn't order that. Never got offered refills on the drinks. It was approaching 8 o'clock and the place was nearly empty. So quiet you could hear a pin drop. Yet the service did not speed up at all. People were trying to pay their checks at the bar because their waiter/waitress couldn't be found. The bar said they couldn't ring them up. I had to ask my waiter for the check after we had been done eating for a while.
Oh and on top of it all, i ended up getting sick from something i ate and spent the rest of the night on the toilet as a result.
I paid $90 for all of this. For 3 people, entrees, chips and queso, and only a beer and a glass of wine between us all in terms of alcoholic drinks.
I'm a local, and for all of the talk I've heard about how good this place was, i was incredibly disappointed and left upset at how poor the service was. I could have tolerated the high prices if the service was better. They try to cram too many tables into a small place which makes it hard for the wait staff to navigate. The layout is poor, the staff seems lost and in over their heads, the food was okay but overpriced, and it made me sick. They had 2 wait staff on duty and my waiter even told me "we can handle it" when i commented it seemed like they were short staffed. It was a slow monday night. I'm not sure what happened, but for the reasons above i will never be going back and cannot...
Read moreWe have been steady, loyal customers of Amelia's for 4+ yrs, ordering every Saturday. We dined in recently, while only 4 tables were occupied and it took 10 plus minutes to be seated and 25 min to have a drink order placed. We were completely ignored. This past Saturday I placed the usual take out order 30 min in advance and my husband went to pick it up 50 min after ordering. He waited 15 + min, no one greeted him. He went to the bar and every person that came in after him was greeted and served while his order sat in a bag and yet no one would simply hand it to him or let him take it. When he asked he was met with complete disrespect and disregard. He stated to the employee he had the same order every weekend and was met with "so, and, so what", and then ignored some more. Mind you this was an order already paid and tipped for. I am not sure if this has anything to do with race, being an interracial family, but when I go in by myself I am greeted and serviced in the proper order of who came in first, etc. Yet when I come in with my husband and son we are continuously overlooked and spoke to in a poor manner. Not only has the staff become less professional and strait rude within the past few months, but the food has become increasingly worse. He never got the order due to walking out after asking 3 times and being disrespected. I called to speak with a manger twice and left two messages, my husband also called twice and left two messages. We received a refund three days later but never received a call back nor an apology. My dad is a lawyer and judge and I think at this point I may have him review the footage from our go pro camera since they do not believe we even deserve an apology or a call back. I am completely disappointed with this business as we used to recommend everyone in the community to...
Read moreI’ve never felt threatened by a restaurant employee before, until tonight. My husband ordered a “Bulleit red label bourbon on the rocks with a lime”, he was not served bourbon, he was served scotch. He told the server that the drink was not correct and repeated again what he had ordered, she took it away. Several minutes later (it was awhile) the bartender came over, identified herself as a “manager” and said aggressively, “what exactly was wrong with your drink?” He said, “it was scotch.” To which she replied, “what do you think you ordered?”. So he stated again his order and she said, “that’s not scotch.” With the rising tension, I interjected and said, “yes, he wants bourbon”. Another server (not ours) came over and put himself between her and my husband in an attempt to stop her aggressive response. The server apologized and stated it was his fault he had told our server what to type in. The “manager” was still confrontational so he pulled her to the side and must have straightened this issue out.
Another 5-10 minutes later, the “manager” served my husband a cup of ice with a splash of the correct bourbon and said under her breath, “here’s that drink.” We weren’t aggressive, we weren’t mean, our 2 children were with us, it was not handled well at all.
He ordered a drink, was served the wrong thing, was confronted like he did something wrong and ultimately was charged for red label Johnny Walker, which is still scotch. We weren’t the only folks in the restaurant and our server did apologize but our dinner was also...
