Kookamunga's — Restaurant in Ocean Shores

Location, location, location! If you are going to make delicious sweets you might as well be located outside of a pot shop. Stopped by here on a cool October Monday afternoon after rolling into town and my sweet tooth was acting up. A dozen little doughnuts for just over $6–alright, I’ll bite. Checked the toppings list and wondered out loud between a few, then ordered the chocolate mallo and lemon coconut. After watching their creation through the big window, out pops our mallo and mounds (chocolate coconut, one of the flavors we were debating). We were just going to take the wrong order of doughnuts (since we like chocolate coconut anyway) but another customer mentioned it to the ladies behind the counter who told us to hold on, and quickly whipped up the half order of lemon coconut. I don’t take photos of my food. I rarely review it. I’m skeptical about donuts raves because, come on, donuts are great but not usually up to the hype. But, never before have donuts tasted like a delicacy. And these… these… wow. Just wow. The batter was super light and fluffy, fried just enough to give it cohesion. And I tasted donut and not what it was fried in. The nuts on my chocolate glazed were almond (instead of peanut) and they were toasted and warm. That elevated the level right there. Then, my blackberry cream cheesy was so luscious it slowly and perfectly melted in my mouth.

It's 7:30am on a Saturday and we just got fresh, warm donuts from Kookamungas! So good! Great price too. You get to choose from a wide variety of toppings. We got maple and "spiced pecans" which they make on-site! I'm excited about this place and will be our new "go to" coffee shop. They have drive thru for convenience too. Did I mention the coffee? We ordered Americans and they too were awesome. This place is a notch above the rest, you must stop by! Opposite side of the street from the famous sharks mouth gift shop...straight across from the Ocean Shores Motel.
