We were on our way from Cincinnati to Columbus to visit my great aunt for her 91st birthday. We were surprising her, so we stopped in Jeffersonville to grab a quick bite, so we could maximize our visit time. We arrived at 10am, we walked in, and the waiting area was filled. We waited for about 5 minutes for someone to address our presence. When she came over, she asked how many and name, then I inquired, "how long is the wait?" She replied with, "I'm getting ready to seat a family, and then I'll get you seated as soon as I can." I was taken aback to say the least. I looked around the corner, and there were 3 booths filled, and a couple families sitting over by the front windows, and the rest of the room was empty. There was a party of 8 that had been waiting over 30 minutes. A party of 3, 4, us (4), 4, 2, and 4. We were all waiting with no explanation or consideration. There were 3 waitresses, a mgr., and the hostess. All of them stayed over by the counter and ignored us all. As we sat and watched the staff ignore us, and people start to come and go we were gathering our things to leave. Again, the Hostess, short with glasses came over and called a name, then another, all of these people had left. She looked at the waitress standing by her and said, they could have at least told us they were leaving. Then she literally looked at us and said, are you staying or going. I was so appalled at her tone and manner that I said, we are going, and will never, come to this Bob Evan's again. You have treated your paying customers like they don't matter. She then just walked away.
The manager, and staff at this Bob Evan's one there was an issue. Whether it was short staffed, or overwhelmed by a group that had already left, we don't know. Why don't we know? Because they didn't take 5 minutes to apologize to your customers and explain the delay. We ended up driving the rest of the way to Columbus, and grabbing a sandwich from McDonald's.
Bob Evan's, due to the behavior of the staff and manager, Hodges I believe is his name, at the Jeffersonville restaurant, 4 women and their families will not be dining at your restaurants. It's a shame, because I handle all of the catering at my job, and Bob Evan's was always my go to restaurant for our breakfast meetings...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI normally have wonderful experiences at Bob Evans at other locations, but this day was extremely disappointing and is definitely making me reconsider Bob Evans as a choice for our meals. I visited with my mother, and from the moment we walked in we were hesitant to stay. The hostess didn't speak a word to us, but grabbed some menus and headed towards a table. We were unsure to follow, because she had not spoken to us. She put the menus down, and we sat and thanked her, but she did not respond. We looked at our menus and then placed them to the edge of the table. We sat for fifteen minutes without getting any service or even any greeting. At the fifteen minute mark, we noted the time and observed what was going on around us. Waitresses and what looked to be the manager were clearing tables. They were taking their time to deliver food, making multiple trips to carry things in their hands instead of using trays to be resourceful. There was a waitress who was carrying drinks in her armpit, and she also licked her fingers after handing a drink to another customer. Another customer approached the table next to us, offering them a coupon for a percentage off their meal, telling the table that they had never received their drinks and that they were not planning on coming back. The manager on duty watched the situation, but did not step in or do anything about it. At the twenty minute mark, my mother and I had not been acknowledged and based on the service that we saw being provided, we decided to leave. We walked from the middle of the restaurant all the way to the exit without anyone approaching us or greeting us. As we were leaving, I looked for a posting with comment cards or a photograph of a manager, and did not see any. I have never received this lack of service in any experience in any restaurant, and in fact got better customer service and more acknowledgement and follow up at the fast food restaurant that we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBest Bob Evans ever!! I am a Motorcoach Operator for an out-of-state charter and tour company. 06/01/18 I was bringing a bus group of 40 back from Kentucky. After acknowledging that the group wished to eat at around 3:00pm, I pulled over and found the Jeffersonville exit on Google Maps where there were several different eating options. The group decided that they wanted to park and visit different restaurants during our stop. Feeling as though the group might want a sit-down restaurant, I suggested that since there is a Bob Evans in the area, we should absolutely call ahead if there is any chance that we would all be patronizing the same restaurant. The group declined my offer to make a reservation for them. We continued on our journey, exited, and came around the corner. The group, all of a sudden, unanimously decided to eat at where? Of course... Bob Evans. I hate dropping a load on any restaurant (at three in the afternoon) even though Bob Evans restaurants are usually very accomodating. But... that's what I had to do.
The team at this Bob Evans handled the nightmare with the upmost tact, professionalism, and organization. They really worked as a team and pulled it off great! We experienced fast, freindly, and above and beyond service that extended past our bus group to the other customers of the day as well. It was almost superhuman. People stayed late, came off break, and put their best foot forward.
Standouts were Tim in the Kitchen (stayed late) and Manager Daniel (great leadership). Everyone was awesome, but these two went avove and beyond for me personally and were still very personable and entertaining in the midst of crisis.
Very clean too.
Our experience was wonderful and in stark contrast to another BE stop we conducted for breakfast two days before in Belleville, where we had made a reservation the day before but someone forgot to pass it on. They pulled it off, but...
This Bob Evans...
