I haven't been a table diner for a while but I work here so I have to give my experience with honesty. At first skeptical coming from a corporate restaurant. They didn't have all the benefits and fancy things to offer like my previous employer. It scared the heck out of me. But here I am almost 3 months in and I could not be more satisfied with the switch. Mr. Steve and Mrs. Linda are hands-on owners. They know what's going on in every part of the business. Most of the recipes are Mrs. Linda's and are delicious. They really made me feel incredibly welcomed my first week. George is a wonderful GM. He always makes sure to ask how we are, not just one employee but each of us daily. And he legit sits and listens whether it be great or be crap he actually cares. He doesn't act high and mighty because of his title or critique every little thing we do. He isn't afraid to jump in and help rather than asking someone else to do it. He is more like a friend than a GM which I have the utmost respect for. He works with my schedule which is insane right now. My husband got sick right before I started the job and has spent the past 2 months in the hospital with a terminal illness. George and his parents have been so understanding of the toll it has taken on our family, I cannot describe how much they have made me feel comforted since day one. They truly are a family operated business that makes every employee feel like family as well. They are always there for us and ready to help however it may be. They help us solve problems or reach goals and encourage us to do our best. They honestly remind me of my family in South Carolina. Their southern hospitality and down home roots. The business is going 28 years and MOST of its employees have been there for more than 5 years. With several being there for over 10 years. The other managers are also fantastic. They are always helping, guiding, problem solving, and understanding. They definitely allow us to be us and teach us when we are incorrect without making us feel like idiots. They cut up with us and joke around when the time is right but are also very interactive and professional when time to hustle and get to it. Scott, Mike, and and Tony have to be the best male management crew I have had ever. Most times there is one maybe two exceptional managers. to have the entire team of management be so incredibly personable, involved, hard working, hands on, knowledgeable people is great! Servers have big smiles, optimiistic attitudes and are most attentive. So far it seems everyone loves working for the family who make each employee a part of it too. They have been great to me and no matter what the future holds, I will always have the utmost...
Read moreChicken was fantastic! Customer service needs improvement. Upon arrival I went to wash my hands in the womens restroom and burnt my hand on the scalding hot water. I informed the waitress and asked for a glass of ice water to put my hand against. With no urgency at all, she returned 8 minutes later with the water. Rolls were not brought out until after dessert was finished. Ordered sweet potato just to be told later that they were sold out. Childrens Mac & Cheese was too hot even for an adult. 2 of the 3 children burnt their mouths. It took the entire time of the adults eating for the kids food to cool enough to be eaten. Potatoe was not dressed, as it was ordered. Waitress took potatoes back in the kitchen, which i'm sure is againt the health departments current regulations. The manager noticed we were upset and came to ask what was wrong. He informed us that the food was just cooked, that of course it is hot! He did not address any of our other concerns and was too busy defending his resturant to even hear what we were saying. We had to order the children's chocolate milk 3 times. It took well over 15 minutes to receive our take out boxes. In the end the manager agreed to compensate the bill. He took off 2 children's meals, and was still talking over me defending the waitress instead of apologizing for our bad experience. And I do not for one minute feel its the waitresses fault. It is the managers! 💯 The waitress may have more to learn, but she was friendly, honest and apologetic. The manager was defensive and uncaring. We absolutely will not be returning or recommending...
Read moreI visited this restaurant while traveling for business through St. Clairsville. I asked for their drink menu to help me determine what kind of draft beer to have. The drink menu was like going back in time 20 years ago. Bud, Bud Lite, Miller Lite and others that are similar that made up their draft beer list. I ordered a grilled Prime Rib medium rare with a salad and "real" pork and beans. The meal also came with a couple of rolls. I received the salad first along with the rolls. The salad was very basic with lettuce, onion, croutons, tomato and cucumber. Nothing at all special about the salad. I then ate a roll that was quite dry and tasteless. My steak arrived in a fairly quick manner. I was surprised that it was lukewarm at best. I did not send it back because I hate to waste food. The steak was a lot more well done than medium rare. I had to get some horseradish sauce to eat this steak because it was just cooked far more than my liking. The "real" pork and beans were almost definitely canned and inedible. It's amazing that this restaurant has such high ratings but then again you get into these smaller towns and the people have no clue because they have never been anywhere. The worst thing about having a mediocre meal is overpaying for it. Ten ounce prime rib $20. You are far better off going to an Outback or Lonestar and that's not saying much but at least you won't overpay for a mediocre at best meal. I would suggest going to this restaurant if you want to feel like its 1991 again and like poor food but...
