Wingate by Wyndham St. Clairsville / Wheeling — Hotel in St. Clairsville

We probably wouldn't stay here again; our experience wasn't terrible by any means, it just wasn't great.

The so-so experience began with me calling ahead to see if we could add a 10% off coupon I received for signing up for texts when we arrived, because I couldn't figure out how to add it online. I was told this was fine, but when we did arrive, the front desk agent told me she didn't know how to do that and didn't think we could anyway because we already had a discounted Marriott rewards rate. That would've been fine, but the whole interaction was weirdly confrontational; the front desk agent said "I don't know who would have told you that" and made disparaging remarks about her coworkers. It wasn't a good way to start our stay, and having worked at a hotel before, I would say the front desk needs more customer service training.

When I returned in the morning to try to get it straightened out, I was told that I already had the 10% off rate code, and I would get a detailed receipt in my email. I did get the receipt, but it isn't detailed, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get the 10% rate.

The room was okay, but nothing to write home about; the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. I went to the sports bar in the hotel, Undo's, and the appetizers were great, but my entree was very bland. The atmosphere in the bar was very sleepy, like a rural bar that serves the same 5...

Dropped in here bringing the Rugrats to a wrestling camp in this neck of the woods of Eastern Ohio by Easton Ohio I mean very hilly.

After searching on the Internet we decided to camp out at this hotel for the evening and it is very nice as you can see from the pictures.

No I will tell ya this is a beautiful facility has plenty of amenities if you can see the workout room it’s incredible along with the business center incredible anniversary breakfast which is nice.

There does seem to be a little bit of deferred maintenance on the facility as the elevator did not work so being on the second or third floor I hope you’re in good shape and not older is there was a class of 1962 reunion that had to make those stairs. Also you can see from the carpet on the stairs it looks awful and facility this nice really should attend to that that makes me think the elevators been out for sometime.

I would think the manager this facility hast to go by and see those stairs every day and I can only wonders why they don’t get them cleaned frequently because it’s your needs it.

We checked into the hotel Friday and we're given room 146. Nice clean room . We Unpacked and went to dinner and stuff some shopping. We got back sometime after 10 and decided to call it a night. Around 2:30am I was awakened by a bad smell. Not sure if I was dreaming or not i went outside to get some fresh air. When I came back inside I knew I wasn't dreaming. The room reaked of sewer gas. I woke wife up and told her what was going on. She was not happy to be woke up. I ran water in the shower to see if maybe the trap was just dry. That didn't help. I went to the desk and told the clerk what was going on. She moved us to another room at 3am. It wasn't till about 5 till we could get back to sleep. I was kind of nervous. I didn't want to die in my sleep from methane gas or carbon monoxide in the room. Other than that the hotel is nice and clean.
