This was not my first choice of hotel, but was the first choice I did get a room (after trying 3 other hotels). It seems there a lot of contractors in the area (fracking) and they need rooms at the local hotels. This hotel has good access to Route 70 and there are many other hotels located near it. I'd suggest you try those other places first. I stayed for two nights in June 2012 and do intend to explore other options on my next visit to the area. General Comments: The hotel is on three levels and there is NO ELEVATOR. There is plenty of handicapped parking in the front of the hotel - near the front desk, but nothing at the rear of the facility - which is where I was assigned. I had no problems with any bugs and each nite, it was very quiet. The 'super breakfast' is very, very limited. The breakfast area consists of two small, round tables and one chair. Only hot thing there is toast and coffee. I had cereal/milk/OJ each morning. All the hallway doors to the stairways were propped open 24/7 - Fire marshall might not like that. Place did have a 'chemical' smell to it. Rooms are considerably smaller than standard hotels, so you end up with ironing board mounted on living room wall - along with main hangar rack. Bathrooms are lit with only the light over the sink - gets quite dark in the shower area. You must have the bathroom light turned on to operate the exhaust fan in the bathroom - the fan will not run independently. There is one main light switch for the room when you enter - that switch also controls the top outlet in the only two available outlets. So if you plug something in the top outlet, it won't work unless the switch is on. All bulbs in the room were incandescent (how quaint!). Specific comments: Three times I came to the front desk and there was no one there. So I waited until they got back from other errands. All service persons at front desk were nice, courteous and helpful. It seems someone had poured coffee in the toilet in my room and closed the lid. That was a bit surprising to open the lid and find that. The next day, as I was getting ready for shower, it was also surprising to see dried-up washcloth stuck in the shower curtain. The temp of the water was fine, but the drain in the bathtub didn't let the water out quickly enough - so you soon found yourself standing in 8+ deep of water. There are no guide handles in the shower area and also no tray for soap/shampoo. I visited during a heat wave. The first nite, the AC worked fine - even though the air blows against the closed curtain. The outdoor window had two big spots of bird dirt on it - looked like it had been there for a while. The second nite, it was beastly hot outside and the AC was sporadic - sometimes coming on and sometimes not - all nite long. Mattress was not very comfortable and I did NOT get a good nite's sleep. The little refrig in room had a large puddle of water inside it and didn't cool my soda cans much more than leaving them out would have - useless. TV was fine. It's a value hotel and the price is lower than most, but next time - I'll...
Read moreWe booked this on a third party site because it was a low price with a high rating of 8.3 out of 10. It was further away than we wanted to stay but felt it was worth the risk. Upon arrival we went down an unmaintained road with holes that caused our SUV to scrape. The property next to the entrance looks like a junk yard with multiple wrecked/broke vehicles in the front yard. There was several interesting people hanging out in the parking lot. Including an odd guy with no shirt fighting the air in the middle of the parking lot. Upon entering the office the lobby spelled like cigarette smoke. The guy working the front desk had to call another person who spoke English. This guy who came was polite and courteous. But after he wanted to charge additional money for a pet (which we didnât have a pet) and another charge for one of our twins. Despite the listing stating âKids stay Freeâ. I decided to asked for a refund and he quickly agreed to authorize it but didnât want me to write a review and informed me he didnât have to approve the refund. He asked if I was going to write a bad review. I told him I would write a review and would add that he did approve the refund. This cause extra hassle as we had started to unload the car and had already ordered pizza. We then had to book another hotel and drive to another hotel which we should have just booked a hotel in Wheeling. We are a family of five and I normally call the hotel first to confirm but didnât this time as I assumed âKids stay freeâ meant what it says. It very much felt like a shake down to get more money and a bait and switch with adding Wheelings to the title knowing the average person wouldnât know the difference. I looked it up first but be warned to factor in the distance to Wheeling from the hotel. The extra charge would have brought the price above the price of a much nicer and safer location for our family. It definitely wasnât a 8.3 out of 10 rating. I didnât see or experience the rooms so canât comment or put a rating...
Read moreThe bed was absolutely the most disgusting bed I have ever been in. I was tired after driving into town very late at night. I checked into the room around 11:30pm and went straight to bed. The smell of the pillows was terrible. I put the pillows on the other bed and slept on the sheets. At 12:30am I woke up itching really bad. I turned on the light and found bugs (about 5 small bugs) just biting on me right and left, I started to kill these bed bugs and every time I squished one, it would show blood like a mosquito who sucked on your arm for a while. I changed clothe and jumped in the other bed. I had the same experience another half an hour later. I was horrified with how filthy these beds were. I packed up and went to the front desk to check into another room and I explained to them exactly what happened. In the other room, I showered, changed clothe and I was sure to check the sheets and make sure they were clean, and there was no sign of any bugs. Not until 5:00am that I woke up to more itching and to my horror, it was the same exact experience, just bugs (about 3-4) on the sheets full of my fresh sucked blood. It was unbelievable to know this hotel was open for business under these horrible circumstances. I brushed my teeth, grabbed my stuff and went to the front desk to complain and I was answered in such a rude manner that I was never to visit another Super 8 ever again. I shall inform everyone I know and the internet from such a horrifying experience at this hotel. I have been on the road for a year and a half and this hotel was the lowest of the low on my all-time horrifying and...
