Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham St Clairsville — Hotel in St. Clairsville

Okay our trip started off with me booking a room at this hotel through hotels.com. Then after traveling 4 hours or more to get there, hotels.com did not send the reservation over that had already been paid for! THIS IS WHEN WE MET THE MOST AMAZING PERSON, SARA -the front desk receptionist of the hotel who saved our entire trip! Not only did Sara deal with hotels.com (who could see the reservation but refused to send it to the hotel but was so very quick to say they would cancel it then still did not cancel it until we called the next day!) but she made it very clear to them she wanted to make sure we were not penalized or stuck paying for a room twice! She also got us the room $45 cheaper than hotels had it listed for!!!! After helping us get it figured out she checked with us frequently as we were coming and going that day to make sure we was completely taken care of but she also helped me actually get the original reservation refunded! She is a god sent and really does need a raise (in my opinion)! Other than her being absolutely amazing, the hotel breakfast was good, the room was comfy and clean, and there was an awesome pool table! The view is pretty great as well! I highly recommend this hotel! I will be returning but this time I’m going to the hotel staff for the reservation not a 3rd...

This hotel is in a great location that it is close to many restaurants and stores. We stayed here bc we were doing an overnight paranormal tour in Moundsville State Penitentiary. Rooms: the beds are very comfy and the room was pretty clean. Definitely needed some dusting in a few areas. The view was great and loved the ledge to sit on by the window. Breakfast: I'm gluten free so I don't expect any catering to that but I was excited for the eggs and sausage but there was barely any left and it had been sitting there for a while (this was at 8:30am). The whole time we're eating breakfast we never saw anyone there attending it. Gym: the gym is fully stocked with dumbbells from 5lbs to 50lbs. It has a weight bench, treadmill, elliptical, stair stepper, and a punching bag. Great little gym! Bonus: they have a little house and feed the outside cat named Bub. Black cat who is very sweet! I've intentionally waited a couple of days to review, just to make sure it wasn't the travel fatigue talking. It's not. The room was very small and very dark, and it smelled like urine. The duvet looked stained, as did the shower curtain. There was just an overall dingy quality to everything in the room. It did at least all function properly, though. For the price I paid...this was a terrible value. Pros...the staff!!! Big time. The woman who checked me in was super helpful, very friendly, and gloriously professional. Housekeeping staff I encountered were very friendly and pleasant. The lady who made breakfast was an absolute delight. Incidentally, the breakfast was another definite pro!! The food was delicious, and the variety was impressive. I'm grateful there was a room left here for a last minute stop, but I won't plan on staying here again,...
