First off let me preface, never have I ever written a review for any restaurant, but my experience here was so bad, I knew I had to. Me and my mom visited Bao soup dumplings last week. I’ve been looking for a restaurant with high quality soup dumplings, and we were both so excited to try this new spot out. We ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings and the cucumber salad as an appetizer. We waited about 45 minutes, when the dumplings were brought to the table, and no appetizer had been brought out. We let the waitress know and she informed us the salad was on its way out. For another 20 minutes, no appetizer, when we started to notice there were tables who arrived after us who were getting the cucumber salad. I noted 7 other tables after us received the cucumber salad we never received. I did ask for a refund when I knew we were done with our meal because there was no point in waiting.
While the price may seem a little steep, the food is absolutely delicious. However, I feel like there is some lack of organization in the kitchen that needs to be addressed in order to avoid drawn out/delayed service. I arrived prior to the big lunch rush and placed my order for a cucumber salad and the pork dumplings. The cucumber salad took nearly 15 minutes or more to get to my table, and while I was eating my appetizer, I noticed that people who came in well after me were getting their meals well before me. I eventually asked what was the issue with my order, and my food arrived withing a couple minutes. All told, it took nearly an hour for me to get my dumplings. I'm sure this isn't normal, I was probably just unlucky today.
Something I noticed during the lunch rush was the line buildup due to the fact that there weren't any tables available. This isn't a large venue, so that is understandable. But I feel like some organization in the kitchen could alleviate some of this by making sure food gets out in a timely fashion.
That being said, the food was fantastic. I will be back again, and i recommend everyone give it a try. For me, it will just have to be on a day when I have some free time...
Read moreThis was my second time visiting with my husband. First time being their grand opening week, and then today. They are consistent with quality so far. We are avid soup dumpling people as we have traveled quite a bit and been to many dumpling spots. The dumplings are some of the better ones we have had throughout our travels. We understand this place is NEW and has some growing pains to work through which may account for some of the service issues mentioned by previous reviews. That being said, the food and service has been good for us. Our favorite dumplings are the pork soup dumplings and the beef soup dumplings. The pineapple tea is my absolute favorite and I will eventually try the lemon tea and the jasmine milk tea (one day). Our only opinions that we have are maybe to put the fried cheese from the pan fried dumplings on the side as several of the dumplings busted and we didn’t get to enjoy the soup.. and our shirts got a taste 🤣. The dumplings are a little thick on the top but still delicious! We will for sure be back and this is going to be a regular place for us. A little pricy, but you get what...
